By the way, I posted these on another thread for Josette. These are sites where you can buy scales that go up to 400 pounds. They probably have some that go higher, but that's all I was looking for at the time.

I too am "Super-Sized". I use to think that I was 5'4 1/2" but last month I was measured at the hospital at 5'4". Then about 3 weeks later when I went to the Dr. they measured me at 5'3". Now, I do believe I could have shrunk 1/2 in. but I don' t think that I lost an inch in one month! :) Anyway, I digress... I weigh 294 and my BMI at the Dr. office at 297 was 51.5. I was thinking the other day about how much I would like to be around 200 lbs again. The last time that happened was in the 90's when I was on phen-phen :phanvan !! Then I got to thinking about it and realized that that weight was 100 lbs away! That is depressing! I'm not banded yet but have gotten the ball rolling. Had all my blood work, etc. done and I called the Dr. office Monday and the nurse told me she was going to get all that together this week to send in to my insurance. I don't think there will be a problem being accepted because I know someone that has already had it done that works at the same place. I have no idea how long it will take the insurance to get back to them. I work at a school, TA, and am hoping to get it done at the end of May. I love LBT and the threads here are always interesting! I have learned a lot here. PhotoNut, I see that you are on here... you must live here! I feel like I know you already!

Im glad I found this thread, I have dial up internet so I'll be lucky to see all the threads in the next year:phanvan . However, Im just starting out, and looking down a loooong road:eek: . My banding date is set for May 26:clap2: , I wish it was sooner. I weighed in a 347 lbs:omg: , with a BMI of 58!!! My goal is 150 lbs. That means I need to lose 197 lbs, Is this even possible:confused:? I havent seen all the threads yet, but is there someone out there, who's done it, I would love to hear from you:ear: .

I sure hope it's possible. I started with 177 pounds to lose, and so far I've lost 52. Sixteen pounds of that was from the pre-op diet, but the rest has happened since Jan 9th this year. Yeah, I think it's possible. *winks*

PhotoNut, I see that you are on here... you must live here! I feel like I know you already!

*laughs* I feel like I know so many people here, and I'm getting quite fond of many of them. I started a thread once about being addicted to LBT. That hasn't changed! :)

CLOE, we have similar weightloss goals. If I lose 200# from my surgery date I will be at 180. Several months ago I posted on another board asking for people who have lost that much to speak up and I got a TON of responses, it was so great to read! You might want to see this thread. It's posted for 100+, but there are some who have lost around the amount I'm looking to lose.

Me too. I'm not even looking to get "skinny" I just want to be a healthy weight.

Made it through one more day on my Quest to break the sugar addiction again. I did have a bite of my husband's dessert last night.. but only one bite. I feel the control returning!

During one of my pre-op psych visits the doctor asks me, "So how would you feel about 160 - 170?" I just stared at him. Blinked. Mouth slightly agape. "Are you serious? I'd be thrilled with 180, 190 - hell, 210. 160 seems impossibly far away."

I'm just a hair over 5'10 and I know that 220 - 240 I'm a loose size 20 (by LB's sizes) or a tight 18, and 200 - 220 I'm in 18 comfortably. I think I'd be happy at an 18, thrilled with a 16. I can't remember, it's been abolut 9 years since I was there last. I don't see myself getting below a 14, period, unless I have my arms & legs cut off.

Hi Guys,

Wheetsin, I totally understand being able to tie every significant event in my life to my then-weight! I can also remember so many strings of days when I've known what I was doing but ate as if I didn't care. That's what I need to avoid in the future.

Photonut, Thanks for the welcome and asking how it's going. Well, I realized I haven't been going for a few days, and the scale is up because of it. So last night I took x-lax and prune juice. This AM --and this will either cure or kill me -- I used the blender to grind up 6 oz of boston baked Beans into a nice mush which I ate alongside 3 oz of prune juice. Would probably be best if no one drops by today. I'm currently nursing an Atkins shake, but I think I'll concentrate on drinking lots of Water for the rest of the day, stay on clear fluids for the weekend.

DaisyB, sounds like you're pulling out of the doldrums!

I was in a 56-58 waist pants in November, at 371...

Today I sit here in my comfy 42s at 259.

Ahhhh. clothes from a regular store!!!!

I thought that a 182 pound loss might be unrealistic at first, but the more I lose the more possible it seems!

372 was my highest weight. that was three months after my daughter was born. i didn't weigh for a while after that because i got pregnant with my son. then i weighed 3 months after he was born and the pregnancy made me lose weight. i got jazzed from that and started working out and eating right. i got all the way down to 287. then i stopped losing. i got so frustrated. then my business failed. i went back to 320. then we moved, then moved again. we were trying to get into cheaper apts so we could save all we could to buy a house. the bankruptsy from the business got a declined loan. by this time i was back at 350. then we said "to hell with it all" and quit work, took our savings, and moved to florida. I got a job as a bartender (my old fall back and what i really enjoy doing) and lost all the way back to 325. Then DH finally got a job in tampa, we moved there, i quit working and gained back to 335-340. then emily got sick and i spent 2 weeks in the hospital. BAM! 350.

i am not really doing great. yeah i am down from my highest. but i am up from the blessed 287 i used to be.

my lowest...16 years old and i weighed 107. yes...107. and i thought i was fat at that point. i can't beat myself up enough for that.

:biggrin1: Hi Amy, I live about 15 min N of Tampa - glad to see someone else is from this area.

Nosey question, what happened to Emily to be in the hospital 2 weeks? how old is she? Our son was in the hospital 4 days and I couldn't stand it, makes me sad when kids are sick like that.

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
