Need Unfill?!

Recommended Posts

I had a fill to 7.5 June 4, 2012. I lost 10 pounds. But like always I lose 10 pounds after each fill then I get stuck. I have been slimming a lot lately it's not really my food coming up just really think slimy saliva. Sorry TMI! I had surgery July 20, 2011 and have only lost 55 pounds so I'm pretty slow loser! Do I need an unfill? Is it dumb to think that if I get an unfill I might start losing again? I find myself getting so tired of not having anything go down so I resort to chips, mash potatoes soups! I'm tired of living off those things. Maybe I'm not eating as slow or small as I thought i was. Another thing, when I eat chips or mash potatoes I feel like I can eat a whole lot is that because they go through the band so Easily? I'm confused on what I need to do! I have an app to get an unfill Monday.

In my opinion, yes... you need an unfill. You are possibly eating more calories than you would with less Fluid because you are eating things that go through the band easily.

I think you would be better off being able to eat solid protiens. They fill you up and keep you full.

I am at my tightest point and I NEVER (rarely) get stuck. I feel that it has very little to do with what I am eating and mostly to do with how I eat. I take small bites and chew them good and eat very slow.

Last night I was soooooo hungry for a hamburger. I rarely eat them but it was yummy. Ate half, was full and extremely satisfied and it went down fine. It was about 250 calories. Way less than if i had eaten things that would pass easily through my band.

The key is to really find that perfect restriction and to eat foods that work with your band.

Best of luck to you!

Didn't mean to send that yet! I guess I didn't think about that.... Even though I'm only eating chips and mash potatoes I may not think I'm eating that much during the day but those Calories add up! I do feel like I need to get an unfill I just felt so scared that if I got unfill I would gain weight!

I think being able to eat is much better. I just went out to lunch with some friends. We went to Applebees. I had a riblet basket, no fries had steamed broccolli instead. Ate the broccoli and 1 rib. I would say totalled about 300 calories. I was stuffed.

Do you track your calories. If you don't you should... it is amazing how fast somethings add up. Maybe you should track for a couple of days and see how much those "slider" foods add up in calories. You might be suprised. Then make your decision.

I'd go into your surgeon or the clinic nurse and have them assess.

Sometimes we're too quick to get filled and this happens (I'm not saying this is what has happened with you) and sometimes we need to adjust to the fill we have.

If you can't get liquids down, that's a problem.

But if you can I'd keep myself hydrated and have some Protein shakes and ride it out for a couple of days (provided you don't hae any reflux).

If it's still like that after a couple of days, then perhaps an unfill just so you're not eating the slider foods.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
