Questions About Diet???

Recommended Posts

Why can't we have diet soda? I was a one soda a day person and really miss the flavor and carbonation. I always drank the Decaf diet Pepsi.

Also, has anyone tried popcorn like the fat free Smartpop from Orville Redenbacher?

The carbonation! I can not handle carbonation at all. Plus its filled with empty calories. Oh yeah, I have popcorn with no problem.

It took me a bit to try soda again and it did bother me a bit. Nothing too horrible, but it did. I generally keep all carbonation out, but I have had popcorn with no bother at all.

Good luck!

I've sworn off all carbonation, but I have had popcorn. I get the small bags of 100 cal lightly buttered. I eat it slow, limit myself to how much I eat, chew it well, and have only done it twice. It's not the best choice for "healthy" Snacks because it really isn't that filling, but it satisfied the craving I was having for salt!

I can drink diet soda, but have heard of some Dr's not wanting their patients to. Mine said to wait for a month post-surgery to drink it.

Supposedly it can contribute to erosion concerns and some people really do not handle the carbonation so well.

The reason people with the band aren't allowed soda is because it's been directly linked to slips. The soda passes through the band into the lower stomach immediately but carbonation expands. When the carbonation expands in the lower stomach it can push upward and cause the band to slip.

When I was in having my surgery, the woman who shared a room with me was in for a revision. She had been regularly drinking soda and her stomach actually prolapsed up through her band. She also gained 40 pounds because of it.

No carbonation for me, ever. It's not worth a slip or additional surgeries to fix it.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
