I dont think I ever felt just 100% I'd have to say about 4 to 6 weeks post op I felt about 200% better. I just woke up one morning and felt fantastic. It will take a few weeks so hang in there!!

Took me about two weeks! My stomach was very swollen after surgery and the thought of food made me sick to my stomach for quite a while until the swelling went down.

I had my surgery on a tues and was back to work that following Monday. I would say I was at 100% 3 weeks where I felt no pain. Hang in there it gets better :)

I had surgery the 12th. I had my gallbladder taken out and was supposed to have lapband surgery as well. Well, my gallbladder was pretty bad and my surgeon couldn't put in the lap band. My stomach still feels miserable. I have the lapband incisions because my surgeon was planning on putting the lapband in. I am now scheduled for lapband surgery on August 6th and I start school the 20th. Will I have enough time to recuperate? Because right now I'm 10 days out and still feel miserable...

PS- I'm glad some of you are feeling better and I hope the rest of us feel 100% better soon!

I understand Gall Bladder surgery takes longer to heal and feel good. The lapband surgery is Aug 6 and you still have 14 days until school. I believe you will be alright.

My band is on Aug 6.

I went Christmas shopping 3 days after being banded, but it was only to 3 stores next to each other and for one hour. Just being outside for a little walking and fresh cool air did wonders for me , as did a hot shower. I went back to work feeling 100 % fine 7 days after i was banded.

I would say that each week gets better. I am a little over a month out and am back to normal.

I'm 2 1/2 weeks out and feel great, as long as I am kind to my abdomen. I did, however, have to go out and buy a couple of loose fitting dresses to return to work since I'm not up to buttons and zippers yet. sleeping and energy are also back 100%. Hang in there. Every day it gets better!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
