6 Days And Already Cheated

Recommended Posts

Have a confession to make. I'm only 6 days post op and I fell off the wagon today. I ate fine this morning but at dinner at my moms house she made a full turkey dinner for her and my brother with Soup for me. It started with a little mashed potatoes mixed into my onion soup. Then it turned in to a spoonful of mashed potatoes in to my mouth. I ate until I thought I'd burst. Then I came home and thought "hum, I didn't get sick. Maybe I'll try some yogurt". I ate two yogurts, an applesauce, and a Protein Bar! I feel like cr**. I hang my head in shame. I hope I didn't hurt myself. :-(

Totally agree with Honk too, this time post - op is for healing, why take a chance on damaging something just for a moments pleasure in the mouth .. totally not worth it !

ohh gosh, I am not banded yet and feel for you. I struggle just to lose a tiny bit of weight now without a band and as you all know it is difficult. I agree with both the above posters that you need to stick to your surgeons food plan in order to make the band work for you. I will be in the same boat very soon. I don't know what your food plan is, but mine says strictly ALL liquids for the first 2 weeks, mushies for 2 weeks, then graduating to solids by the 5th week. shake it off and get back on track you will be happy you did!!!

(hugs)

You gotta change some habits girlfriend ! And one of the big ones is DO NOT beat yourself up. You have not failed. Just remember you're on baby steps right now. Just get back with your Dr's diet plan and you'll be very glad you did. Try not to expose yourself to any more triggers like a big turkey dinner. That would be hard for anyone to walk away from. You'll be fine, you can totally do this !! Keep us posted on your progress.

here was my surgeon's diet after surgery: first 24 hrs all liquids then i was to move on to mushies for 2 weeks so I don't think you hurt anything but probably wouldn't have eaten the Protein Bar. Don't beat yourself up, we've all been there, it was just day before yesterday that I posted that I ate awful and I'm 3 weeks post op, I was feeling guilty too. Just get back on track, get focused and tomorrow is another day. We can do this.

I am going to need you to put down the mashed potatoes and pick up the book I told you to read! Plus a bottle of water! Tomorrow will be a great day for you!

My surgeon had me back on solid foods on POD # 5 and I felt fine but I am very careful with what I eat. I was on full liquids POD #2 because I was nauseated from the pain meds.

Don't beat yourself up, just jump back on the wagon. This is a whole new way of life for us. I'm only POD#12 now, so I am no expert for sure. I just know how bad we make ourselves feel when we fall off the wagon. It's a bump in the road but you can hop back on it. :)

Hang in there! I'm a few weeks post op and have already done that a couple times! I thought I hurt myself, too. It's old habits and of course the old habits of feeling guilty and ashamed after! Hang in there!!! We are still only human!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
