What Am I Doing Wrong? Please Help!

I just had .2 cc and that's not a lot but my surgeon said for me it is! I'm just one of those people and believe me I can feel it!!

Everyone is so right, even .1 cc can make a difference. I requested a slight fill when I went to my surgeon in April. He gave me barium and x-ray, and it wouldn't go down without the help of Water. He told me any more would clog me up. He was actually ready to remove .5cc, but I talked him out of it. Have a little removed, it will make a great deal of difference. By the way, I only have 5cc and anytime I have tried to go above that it has had to be removed. Best of luck. Karen

I have had exact same thing 2 cc 1st fill and 1.5 cc second it's been a month now and just now able to eat any solid food past one or two bites. No more meat for me. I am holding out I don't want to go get unfills just eating a lot of Protein Drinks Soups ect testing out some foods as I go

I actually got sick with a bad phlegm type cold last winter and I had to get an unfill because I was so congested. They wouldn't tell me how much they took out - they just said to come back the next week to out it back in. After the cold went away, I was shocked how much I was able to plow through food wise. It was scary. When I went back I asked them how much they took out and they said .3 cc's. CRAZY! I would have thought it was 3 whole cc's. When you are perfectly right it's amazing how big a difference .1 makes. I only fill in .1 increments now.

I will definitely contact your doctor if that is happening. Because today I had my first fill and it was 6cc and my doctor did not have me drink Water before I left the office and when I did drink water it was somewhat painful. Then when I took two bites of my lunch I ended up vomiting. I immediately called the doctor and when he called me back he advised me to just have soft foods the rest of the day and that if there was no change tomorrow that I needed to come in for an unfill.

I'm in the same boat. I had my first fill since Nov 2011 which puts me at 6.75cc. I've been feeling the same way. I drank some tea this morning before my Protein Shake and that helped. I think it's due to swelling after a fill. Vomiting also causes swelling and movement of the band. If it continues I'll have it taken out just giving myself time to adjust. I just felt like I was eating a bit too much. My weight loss slowed a tad.,I've had consistant weight loss of 8-10 lbs a month since the surgery. Down from a size 24/26 to a 16/18.

Shatarita - most docs recommend a day of liquids and a day of mushies after a fill. Also, next time drink some Water in the office and see how it goes down. 6 cc seems pretty aggressive, I hope it works out for you!

Surgery side effects. Your body is healing. Take it easy. Drink liquids. Call your doctor and describe your symptoms just so they know and can advise you.

I had the same problem when I was filled on May 11th. It's taken me 3 weeks now to re-learn how to eat with my band. I was eating too fast and chicken and beef are a real problem. So, no steak only hamburger now. No dry chicken or leftover fish. I'm making it work but if you're eating right, you may need a small unfill.

Are you on pain meds? Pain meds shut me down. Closes off the lower stomach sphincter so nothing goes through. Or, you've got a lot of swelling.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
