Lap Band With Gastric Plication

Recommended Posts

Hey group' date=' how's everyone doing? Just thought I would pop in and say hi. I'm doing good although very "restricted" but that is OK, I was a BAD girl so I am now paying the price. I have dropped 7 pounds in 12 days so you can tell I am not eating much. OK to start exercising today (since toe surgery) and I am looking forward to that - it is time to sweat a bit. Hope everyone is having a good week.

Woo Hoo! That's great news... Gonna hit 100 very soon! Congrats!

Kah1213 - Lucky !!! have a great vacation. OK' date=' here is what you do..eat smart, no junk, avoid snacking and when you tummy says "I'm done", then back away from the table. Be sure to get in your Water and be sure to have a great time. You will do great !

Melinda- you said it! I found the no snacking to be really hard on my trip. I was eating with the group for each meal and it's been hard. I did get some odd looks when I didn't finish my plate, etc. I didnt have the selection of foods that I would've liked. I got stuck a couple times on foods i shouldnt be eating, which was an odd feeling, but I got through it. I'm ready to be back in the saddle and more on a schedule with eating!

Bama, Kah, Melinda - glad to hear you all are doing well. Kah, I hope you enjoyed your vacation - it sounds like it!! Congrats, Bama - that is great!! Carolina, how are you doing? I have a question for the experienced ones - what is good or acceptable weight loss after an adjustment? I got my first one on the 5th and am down 8 lbs so far. Not sure if that is good, bad, or average. Don't really feel like getting bitched out by the doctor, so I want to have an idea ahead of time. Thanks - you guys have been really great!!! Only 1 more pound to go and I will have lost 50 lbs since I started this process in January, and 18 since surgery on May 7th - again, is that bad?

I'm so happy you are doing so well! I know we will all do great.. Wonderful support for and from all of us! How are you doing with back to work? I know by the end of the day I'm ready for my bed and I have no problems falling asleep!

I'm feeling great! Have no regrets. I'm struggling with exercise... I do about 40 min of cardio EVERY day but hate ever minute of it! Ughhhhh! I hope I start to like it soon!

Take care everyone and thank you for all the great support... Y'all ate awesome!

had surgery on the 6th, and took off 6,7,8, and 11-15

went back to work 5 days ago.....first two days was tired when i got home. now its business as normal. (def think the Protein Shakes that i do twice daily help w me not being run down---just my two cents). so in total took off 8 days. am glad i did too. the biggest surprise was my shoulder that hurt but it did pass and my bathroom habits have def improved. i use imodium as needed. (still on mushy foods and alot of liquids per dr....so still keeping a close friendship with mr potty :)

so all in all, since preop/surgery/2 weeks post op, 32 pounds total down

18 pre op and 13-- 2 week after surgery..

how are all of you??

i am soooooooo proud of you and us and me and this lap band.

we must keep positive attitude no matter what. lets promise to vent on here or question something if we need too..

Kah1213 - so glad you are back in the saddle. Hope you enjoyed your vacation - I am so jealous. Sounds like you did very well with your band on a cruise. I can only imagine the temptations. Have a great weekend.

Ladyscorpio - you sound like you are doing great. Don't let the doctor fussing at you bother you - they must learn that in med school...hehe. You loose at your rate and the rate you feel comfortable with. I had an adjustment on 6-8. I am down 9 pounds (too fast - but I think I am too tight). Don't compare to others - we are all different beings. As long as the scale is moving down and not up, you are doing great.

Have a good weekend.

Carolinagirl: you are doing great. Sounds like things are moving right along with your recovery. You weight loss is real good too. Just be sure to ake care of yourself while healing then it makes the rest of this so much easier. I love your idea of staying in touch and staying postive - plus venting when needed. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have all of you to sound off to when I feel up against the wall. Only other bandsters really understand what it is like to look at a plate of food you love and know you will only get a few bites (and then hope you don't PB). All in all it is worth it though. I wouldn't go back to the old me for anything !

Have a great weekend and enjoy those Protein Shakes (j/k)

Melinda

Hello all... Glad to see everyone is doing well! I went to my appt yesterday and I didn't lose anything and no fill yet. I'm thinking I need some help with my selection of food. I need to start planning so I can start losing. My Dr. Was not too concerned says I'm still healing. He also told me to reduce my carbs to 30 per day since I'm starting regular foods. Seems like when I was on mushies it was lots of carbs. I go back in 3 weeks. Wish me luck!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
