I had the surgery on Tuesday, May 8th and woke up from the surgery with pain in my left shoulder. The only time it subsides is when I am lying flat. I am still filled with gas throughout my chest and abdomen and even though I am expelling gas, it builds up again very quickly. I wish that the medical professionals had prepared me for this. I thought it would be subsided by now. Every time I have something to eat it builds up again.

The surgery incisions are fine and, except for the port site, there is no lingering pain. It's just this gas and it is intense when I move around. Everyone has said to walk, walk, walk which is what i am doing but it doesn't seem to help at all. Any suggestions?

You might want to try Gas-Ex Strips Extra Strength. I use them 2-strips at a time. Also I have masasage heating pad that helped with the shoulder pain. Feel better soon!

I was banded last Thursday (5/10/12) and I'm having the same problem with my left shoulder. To help relief the pain I use hot pad.

Hello, I was also banded on Thursday, May 10th. The shoulder pain is pretty annoying but I found that walking around does help the shoulder pain a little. And also, I've been sleeping in a recliner so it's easier to get comfortable and get up, I highly recommend it.

My incisions are still pretty tender though. And occasionally I'll get like a sharp stabbing pain where the port is. It only lasts about a second, but it's uncomfortable for sure. Are you struggling with any incision pain?

I received a deep muscle massage and it helped mine a lot. They worked an hour on my left shoulder. My muscles were in a knot from constant left shoulder pain. After the massage the pains were not as intense and now it doesn't happen at all. To be honest I also had a second fill, it could have been either one but I strongly feel my shoulder did feel like a knot and the massage is what helped it the most.

I have been banded since 2003, no Fluid in my band since March 2004 (got pregnant). I continued to lose weight without an adjustment & then found I had partial slippage. I have been co-exisiting with no complications. I would get the gas pain occasionally, usually would subside in 24 hrs. I am now going on over a week with this pain. I have tried Gas-x, sure I continue to burp but it does not ease the pain. I exercise daily, have put myself on liquid diets & it still is ridiculous. Dr Shayani performed my surgery & he is an AWESOME physician! Problem is he practices too far from me. The pain interrupts normal activity & I'm basically afraid to eat or drink anything! Any referrals to a surgeon in the area?

I'm 4 day post op and continue to have gas pain, but does anyone have a sensation of your stomach spasming? Also is anybody else struggling to get calories in? I'm averaging about 250 calories per day. I'm very exhausted still have pain around my incisions. I have been sipping on Water and Gatorade because I fear dehydration. Is this all normal?

I'm 2 days post op and it's exactly the same for me! Please tell me it gets better with the shoulder and gas pains!

I got scared. I hope some of the suggestion on here help. Thanks and have a blessed Sunday!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
