Hi All!!

It's be FOREVER since I've posted on here! I've lost a total of 77 lbs. I still have a long way to go but well on my way. I'm having a rough week. Snacking too much. I gained a half a pound back, but holding steady for about a week now.

Sore port/band area!

Hope all is well with everyone! Keep it up!!

Hi- checking in too. I think I finally hit my sweet spot after having an unfill at the end of July. I am also noticing that both the physical and head hunger are diminshing too! Anyone else had that? After 77lbs down, people notice! I am wearing out Goodwill. Not spending a lot on clothes in sizes that I am just passing through. I am at the smallest weight I have been in about 10 years and I feel 10 years younger! Still the best decision ever. I hope everyone has continued success.

Congrats to both of you on your success!!! YAY! 77lbs makes a huge difference physically and emotionally. I too feel like I am having to buy a new wardrobe every month. Lots of consignment store, old navy, and target clearance for me. I still deal with head hunger every day and have to be strict with myself. However, when I stay on top of my exercise, I do allow myself a little treat once or twice a week. Keeps my cravings down and I am still losing. Exercise is equally important to my weight loss as nutrition is.

I am down 111lb since I began the 6 month pre op diet. I feel like a whole new person. My next goal is to get under 200. I went in for a fill appt today but since I am in the green zone, they didn't put any Fluid in. I have been losing about 13lbs per month but they said expect it to slow down the smaller I get... 4-8lbs per month is average.

Keep up the great work everyone!

Hello! Been awhile since I've posted on here.

I had my third almost a month ago and I was wondering if anyone has the same feeling as I do.

After I get my fill, for maybe a week (or two if I'm lucky), I'll definitely feel the restriction, WHICH I LOVE, but after that week or so, I feel nothing.

Does anyone get like that?

Hey Everyone,

Now that it has been more than 6 months for us, how is everyone doing....weight loss since surgery etc. How are we mentally doing?

HI Jackie,

Weight loss has definitely slowed down, have lost about 50 pounds. I did not have to start losing before surgery on May 24th but it came of quickly the first few months. I have only had one fill but will have another one next month. I did go in for a fill last month but the doctor did not think I needed one at that time. I sure feel I need one now. Still keeping to good food choices for the band, although I do have a treat now and then. My concern is the exercise I am not faithful, hope to do better. How are you doing? Hugs

Hi ladies!

I miss you all. Hope you're all doing well on your bandster journey. We just have to remember that ANY progress, even if slower than we would like, is progress. I am so glad we have each others support.

Some days are a real struggle mentally but doing my best. I am in the green Zone. Only a few lbs from goal so I am switching my focus from big weight loss numbers to eating nutritious foods, getting fitter, and learning to make this a lifestyle and not a diet. Which is so hard when you have yo-yo'd your whole life. lol.

I am doing good, hit a plateau for awhile, but trying not to focus on that and just being healthly since that is the long term goal. I have lost 60 pounds and Im looking to lose another 35 or so.

You are doing great :) congrats! What kind of exercise have you been doing? It's hard to find something that feels fun and not like a chore at the end of a tiring day. Have you tried zumba, or new work outs?

Thats great' date=' whats your goal? How much weight was it you wanted to lose?[/quote']

Thanks Jackie! I am 5'9" so anywhere between 175-170 was my goal. I'm 179 right now. So 146lbs down since i started the journey.. about 100 of that was post surgery.

I would like to lose a little bit more but overall feeling fit and healthy at this size. It is hard for me to let go of my fixation on numbers/calories and just go by what feels healthy.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
