Scared To Death Of Plastic Surgery!

Recommended Posts

I am 90 pounds down and still have a bit to go, but already I can see the need for some cosmetic work. Flabby arms that will not tone up even with working out consistantly and I cant explain it but my thighs are very saggy... still dimpled with some cellulite, but just seem to hang like elephant skin. Honestly when I look in the mirror, Im thrilled with the weight loss, but my whole body needs some work, but scared to DEATH of the pain and scars of a whole body lift. I always swore I would just be happy with the weight loss.. but I am embarrassed of my thighs.. so I only wear capri's and skirts with my swimsuit... and try never to wear sleeveless anything unless Im forced to take off my coverup with the swimsuit etc. Its almost like I was hiding myself in clothes because of the fat... and now Im hiding myself in just smaller sizes because of saggy skin... I guess I just need the reassurance that when I do reach and maintain my goal it will be okay to do this next step and not be as horrific and I think it is.

I completely understand what you are thinking!! I too have had those thoughts and worries. I had lap band in January of 2011 and as the weight starting coming off, I could see my body changing of course, but could also see where the excess skin makes me just as self conscious as all the weight I was carrying did. I am terrified of plastic surgery and have exercised to the point of exhaustion to tone up the parts that bother me..mostly my arms and upper thighs. But, like you said, I definitely need the resassurance that the next step won't be nearly as bad as what I am expecting it to be!

I too would love to hear some advice on toning those arms and thighs. The machines, weights and treadmill just aren't doing it (so far).

I am having a 360 full body lift and my arms done in May its a 5 hour op.. scarey yes, needed .. oh most definititely. I have made my muslces as tight as possible doing every exercise i can to help them but skin is skin and the most advice i have been given is that no exercise in the world will get rid of it. I am not ashamed of my skin, i feel it is a badge of honour for all the weight i have lost, but i keep it covered outside the home because i know other people wont see it like i do. At least i go out now, when i was very obese i hardly went out at all, if i had to live with this skin i would .. Scars, well anyone can have scars i have had ceasarian scars for many years, ,its just the price u pay for something u want, We wanted to lose weight then we have to love ourselves for losing it and learn to live with what needs doing afterwards. I am confident pain management now is such that u may be uncomfortable post op but in pain no... u shouldnt be and those scars fade, some of the pics already on this forum show peoples recovery and how good they are looking now.

I probably have some of the worst skin someone on this forum would have due to my age and amount of weight lost.. I will post pics for everyone to see and let u know how it goes .. my worst problem is losing this last 7lbs .. I am looking forward to getting rid of this skin and not worrying about how hot the summer will be :)

I also felt the same way....There was no way I was having plastics!! But after losing over 100 lbs...my lower body needs some serious help. I cannot stand looking in the mirror. I am scheduled for lower body lift, Lipo on thighs, and inner thigh lift in June. I am going to Mexico, as it is too costly in the U.S. I have seen amazing results....once I started researching plastics and looking at everyones before and after pictures, I knew I was going to have mine done!! Am I scared?? Hell ya....but I am much more excited than scared!! If it helps you any....go to makemeheal.com (I think that is the site) it is a good source of infor on plastics. I was told to end our weight loss journey...that plastics is the final stage!! Most people that lose weight will not regain if plastics are involved. Just a thought...good luck :)

I'm scared to death. I'm scheduled for my lower body lift on May 7th, and doing a breast lift 3 weeks later. Surgeon didn't want to do them together because he wants me on blood thinners for the lower body lift being that I'm on hormone replacement therapy and have a higher risk of blood clots. I'm petrified. The lower body lift will take about 4- 4 1/2 hours. I've never been under anesthesia that long. I've been procrastinating my plastic surgery for a year and half. I'm finally doing it. I'm sooo scared!

Definitely keep us posted...you only have about 2 weeks more!! I am scared too...but I am more excited than anything. I can't wait. You will be fine!! I hear that LBL is really not that bad, pain wise! So, we shall see....Just make sure you follow your surgeons instructions, and make others wait on you. Get lots of rest and take it easy!! That will best for your recovery. Good luck to you and please take before and after pics....I am scheduled for June 21 along with inner thigh lift and Lipo on thighs...

I had an anchor cut circumferential in November along with brachioplasty and seriously had no pain. I weaned myself off the heavy duty pain med's after week 2. I'm headed in for a thighplasty and breast lift in October and slight revisions to what was already done. My surgeon is a bit conservative and we both see more skin that needs to come off and a better tightening. That could be why I had no pain but I would do it over again in a heartbeat. I had 16.3 pounds removed and love that I can see all my girly parts!!

Trust your surgeon and go in to it with a positive attitude and you'll be fine. Follow all the post op instructions and you'll be back to your normal self in no time!!

Thank you so much for the encouragement . I will definitely keep you posted and post some before and after pics. I am excited at the same time. I'm just nervous about being under anesthesia for that long, and am afraid I wont wake up. LOL! I'm such a wimp. I got a ton of instructions from my surgeon on certain Vitamins to start, etc. so I'm going to follow his advice and start them all. I'm a little worried about taking the blood thinners before surgery. That seems like weird advice, sure hope I don't bleed out. ughhhhh! I'm such a freak. But.. I can't wait to see the results. Danielle, good luck in June. Send pics. Jujuvee.. wow, 16 lbs. That's awesome. You've had a lot done. I probably wont be able to afford any more ps, so I hope it comes out great! :-) Thanks all.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
