Increased Restriction After Abdominoplasty

Recommended Posts

I'm new to the site and was wondering if anyone else has found that they have increased restriction after having an abdominoplasty. I am 8 weeks out and have realized that I'm really tight. I'm not sure if this is due to some ongoing swelling or the increased abdominal pressure from having my abdominal muscles restored.

Thanks - Mary

I was wondering, since my surgeon said theres no need to unfill. Ive really struggled since a complete unfill fifteen months ago for major bowel surgeru, never really got my restriction back so i would welcome a few tight weeks, and to match my new tummy, four or five pounds off would be nice too, lol.

But as we all know OVERTIGHT just doesnt get us anywhere. So do go see your doc if youre vomiting, etc

Yes, im tight! Didnt realise at first since I always make an effort to eat very light while lying around in hospital have been in Cabrini in Melbourne five times in the last fifteen months and the food is fantadtic, unfortunately Im usually on bowel rest, lol.

However, got home yesterday, got (mildly) stuck on dinner, tried to eat some grapes today, no way, no how. Am very pleased to see tht Ive dropped 4lb or so that Id been tring to get rid of for months (and the skin they removed was only 250 grams, this Tt was more about reconstruction and scar revision following bowel surgery than loose skin) and the retriction isnt crazy, so Im going wuth it, after all its going to be a while till Im running and spinning again.

Im swollen tight as a drum so that might be it, but my port is now well contained under very taut skin, not under loose upper abdo skin, so maybe tht pyshes more fluidout of the tubing and intothe band reservoir?

Hey.... i wish my PS had left at least some of my fill in. He removed it all. He said that he had a bad experience with a patient that refused to let him remove the fill..... she couldn't eat are drink and got dehydrated and had to be put in the hospital.

Said that the extra swelling caused the band to be tight. I'm having conflicts about filling it again. I really want to, but kind of enjoying the ability to eat "normal" again. Not over-eating by any means.... but i did eat a piece of toast this weekend.....OMG... was it good. I have gained 3lbs..in the 6 weeks i have had no fill... but i don't think that's too bad.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
