I Am Crying As I Write This...

For the past 23 years I've been an emotional eater, and now that I am a month post op I can't eat my emotions and I am sad ALL THE TIME! I went for my first fill today and lost weight, I should be happy. But I can't stop crying!

I mean I am a 23 year old junior college sophomore, who hasnt had a date since my ex fiance married someone else (a month after we broke up) I have a part time job and I live at home.

I dont have alot to be happy right now, and I just.. I dont know!

I guess I'm just reaching out for some support, lol I could use a hug!

  • Poor thing....this emotional time is very normal as you are on the edge of something so diiferent and both hopeful and scary. I am guessing exfiance didnt treat you like the goddess you are...yur band

  • I also disagree that this is normal. It sounds to me that you're very depressed and need professional help. If your doctor has a psychologist on staff, call for an appointment. If not, call the off

  • You have a lot to be happy about! You have started a new chapter in your life, one that some others only wish they could have. You are in college getting an education and you are beautiful! I agre

(((( )))))sending you a big hug! You have your life a head of you! Just be glad you found out about your ex before you married him! You have so much more than a lot of folks,. You are in college, you have a job and a place to live. And, you just took the biggest step toward a bright future, too! Good luck on your new life. You are a beautiful girl on the outside, now you need to work on the inside girl, too! We are all here for you, Rae. Keep in touch! Karen

I'm sorry you are struggling, but you WILL be able to get through this.

Most colleges offer free counseling services, so please call today to make an appointment. There are professionals who care about you and want to help you get through this tough time.

What could you do right now to help yourself? Sometimes one of the following activities can help: journaling, listening to music you enjoy, watching a movie, going for a walk or engaging in some other form of physical activity, reading, chatting with friends/family, or volunteering. You may have some better ideas, so do whatever healthy activity you think you might enjoy most. If nothing sounds good, still try to make yourself do something that will distract you from the negative thoughts.

Be confident that there will be better days ahead.

Lots of hugs! I am wishing you all the best.

Hugggggs!!!!! Everyone else said it all I just wanted in on all the love hugs. Good luck! When you find your really help mate you will laugh about crying over this until then cry when needed and charge on. Good luck!!!

So sorry you are feeling blue. Why not find something you like to do and join a group. Anything you like, singing, exercise, dancing, painting, etc. You will meet others who like similar hobbies and who knows who you will meet along the way. I find when I am blue....I try to get out and do something I like. Thinking of you and will say a little prayer for you to be in the pink soon.

I am sorry to hear about your story... =(

Have you heard of meditation? I know it might sound crazy but try it out it really calms you down and it definately helped me with my journal in terms of weight loss.

Rae - Don't give up. You're a pretty girl. You can do this! I just got divorced after 14 1/2 years (my ex had a 3 yr affair) and I am better off without him. Way better off. You're better off without your ex that left you. When I got married, my husband was the only real relationship I'd had. I'm 41 and my divorce has been final for almost 5 months now and I've not had any dates or really any interest shown in me by guys. Sure, it's depressing, but I now I'll find someone eventually. I don't have much of a social life, but I've joined a couple groups on meetup.com and am going to make more friends. I'll probably meet some guys through them. Fingers crossed, but the point is for me to put myself out there, where I can meet someone. You are on your way to being a healthier you and you'll find someone. I have been an emotional eater myself and still struggle with that and with guilt over bad food choices. Hang in there, okay? Please feel free to message me.

One thing you have to do is realize the fact that you woke up on this beautiful day and if God willing you will wake up again tomorrow and get a chance to rewrite your beautiful life you have taken the first steps to loving yourself don't stop now hun your steps are getting to far to walk back I'll pray for you

I am banded as well as my wife as a support thing for both of us ....when one of us are feeling down the other one is there to support .......there are many support groups that have alot of people just begging for someone to share their day and friendship with .....maybe you can get to a support group and find a real good friend their as a start ...........i am a 44 year old man that always ate what i wanted for all the goofy reasons ....but now i am banded and only missing a few foods ......i have my lap bandbuddy ....get one for you too.....goodluck and keep your chin held HIGH........

I am so proud of my husband. He had his band done 3/22. He has lost 18 lbs so far. I am scheduled for my band tomorrow. I am excited that we can do this together.

(((((((((hugs)))))))))))))

Prayers going up for you, Rae. I think many of us are in the same boat as you when it comes to emotional eating. We have to find other ways to deal besides food. Reading, walking, hanging at the beach and going to the gym help me. Keep busy to keep your mind off if food. Any hobbies you like will help. Even readng these forums. Much success to you. :0)

My friend had surgery a year and a half ago. She also had a really hard time emotionally. She has recently started counseling to help her deal with the emotions she had been pacifying with food for so long. Her recommendation to me was to start counseling as soon as possible after surgery, so that it doesn't pile up on me all at once. As some of the other posters have suggested, it may not be a bad idea for you to contact someone at school, or look to see what your insurance will cover in the way of mental health services. This is a happy time, and you should be happy! I hate that you're not....it makes me sad, too. :( We need to take care of ourselves in many ways. Don't neglect your head and your heart <3 Hang in there! It will get better!

Hugs coming your way. Hope they help. I have to agree with everyone above, perhaps it is time to talk with someone and let go of your burdens. Perhaps getting them out in the open will make them more manageable. I also agree that you have a whole lot going for you. Keep your eyes on the positive and fix the things you have control over. I wish you the best. Remember you have a lot of people here pulling for you.
