I received the instruction email today from my surgeon and time of surgery. 6pm! April 2. Wow! 6pm!

I can do this....getting excited ladies. Getting that email makes it seem really real......

Yay for you! I've been excited today, too. I agree with you about this being the hardest decision I've ever made. Never in my life have I experienced such mixed emotions.

Well I received my PreOp diet on last week and wanted to start three weeks before to be careful but I have eaten bad this week. My diet starts on Monday and it is a low fat diet with no meat including chicken and fish, no starches and only veggies, fruit and wholegrain. Of course, I will be heading to the store on Saturday to have a day to myself and push the cart all around Sam's. They don't have the best whey Protein but I will just have to down the tub. I have to eat three meals and in between each meal have a Protein Shake. I am required to have between 40 and 80 grams of Protein a day. This will indeed but a huge task for me but trust me I don't want them to hit my liver so I am even adding exercise to my PreOp diet plan. I am hoping to be down at least 10 pounds before surgery if I can.

We can all do thiis and we will do it!!!

You're right---we can do it! Today, when I was struggling with wanting to eat more than I should, I went walking. I still wanted to eat when I returned but at least I burned calories instead of consuming them.

My Dr said 3 days 0 calorie clear liquid diet ie chrystal light, broth that kind of thing. I think by reading everyone elses postings i will do a gradual think starting 2 weeks b4 by doing Protein Shakes 2 times a day and 1 meal. then 1 week b4 do 3 protien shakes a day then doing my 3 days of Clear Liquids. that way i can gradualy get to the 3 days b4 and it might not be such a shock to my system!

I love meat too, but over the years have eaten less and less of it. Yesterday wasn't too bad. Had my two shakes and a salad in the late afternoon. When I struggle the most is late in the evening. I really want something to eat before I go to bed. I tell myself I just need a taste of something and end up eating an entire bag of popcorn. Last night I forced myself to drink 2 large glasses of Water and went to bed.

Day two will be better!!

YES it will!

I'm sorry it was a rough day. I was struggling yesterday, but today has been much better. I hope it's better for you, too.

I "get" the popcorn craving. I've been wanting a bag of popcorn on and off since the weekend. I buy the natural kind from Walgreen's that has only 100 calories a bag. Normally I don't eat much popcorn, so a box generally lasts a long time. When I emptied the box a few weeks ago, I didn't bother to buy more since I knew I wouldn't be eating it in the future.

Tonight, I walked extra miles to get my mind off of food, and the minute I stepped back in the house, I was craving popcorn yet again! I this craving to be very strange. Freshly baked Cookies or chocolate candy, yes, but popcorn?

Today is day 2 of my pre-op and I think I have it figured out. Yes, I want to eat but haven't had time to think about it. Took my Protein Shakes and chicken noodle Soup with me to work and put in a 12 hr day. Too damn busy to think about about. Now all I have to do is stay super busy the next few weeks and try not to think about food too much. I might make that work.

I did have one thought today as I was downing my second Protein Shake late today at work. I will really need to plan my food intake after I'm banded. Usually I get so hungry that I will come home and make whatever I can just to get food in and I eat way too fast. Normally when I'm busy, I eat between clients or get myself so damn hungry that I'll eat anything I can find or stop on the way home. Probably one of the reason I'm so overweight now. Lack of planning, slow eating habits and let myself get too hungry. Yes, the band is a tool and I'm going to have to learn how to eat again like a healthy person. Maybe mark out time for my meals? What a concept. A lunch break!!

My surgery date is April 2, and I'm on day 3 of the pre op diet. Day 1-7 is 2 proetin shakes per day that are 200 caleries or less, and have 15g of Protein or more and a small dinner that has no more than 200 calories, no more than 15 grams of net carbs, and 15 grams or more protein. I was given a list of some lein cusines and smart one's dinners that meet this criteria, and it's not many. Plus they change all the time, adding and subtracting carbs as they desire. Then day 8-13 is 4 Protein Shakes per day. I can supplement with Jello, broth, popcicles, and they stressed at lease 64 oz of Water a day. Then day 14 is just clear liquids the day before the surgery. The goal is to shrink the fat around the liver and the actual liver itself because of it's position relative to the stomach. If the liver is too big, they can't get it out of the way in a safe manner to place the band. The liver is a very vascualr organ and they want it safely out of the way so they can get to the stomach so there isn't any damage to it creating more complications. That is one of the reasons that surgerons cancel sx or don't preform it once you are in the operating room is that if they can't get that liver out of the way and visualize the stomach, they can't safely do the surgery.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
