Congrats!! Finishing is more important that any ribbon or time. Way to go! I used to run and I loved it. I am currently trying to get myself back in good enough shape to start again.

Thats so awesome. I am actually training for my first 5k doing the couch to 5k. How long did you train before you felt ready? I can run/walk 3 miles in almost 40 minutes but I really want to be able to jog the whole thing.

Congrats to you! I just started running a little bit during my 3 mile walk. Never would I have imagined that I could be a runner! I also did my first long hike this past weekend, 10.5 miles! So much to be thankful for!

I know for myself I've never carbed up for a 5K. I really don't think our bodies need extra carbs for that distance. When I'm doing longer runs (I'm training for a marathon) I eat oatmeal, wasa crisps, or fruits.

Doing your first 5K is such an accomplishment. I ran mine a year ago on April 15, 2011. It made me feel so good that I continued to do a few more and now I am running 4-6 miles a day 4 days a week with the occasional longer run added in. I am training for a 1/2 marathon (13.1 miles) on Memorial Day weekend.

There should be no need for extra carbs for 3 miles. You should be fine energy wise. In fact most races are in the morning and I don't do so well eating that early so I will just be sure to hydrate well (not too well so that you have to pee mid-race). Maybe 8-16 oz of Water.

Good Luck. I'm sure you will do great. !! :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
