Scale Suggestion

Recommended Posts

I need some suggestions for a good scale to weigh myself with. I want one that is pretty accurate, what does everyone here use and do they like it? Right now I'm using my Wii fit board, need I say more??

I don't measure. I let my band do the measuring.

when I had my regular scale, I was weighing every day, driving myself crazy. Then I got a digital scale, found a spot in my house where it matched the doctor's office number...and that's where I place it every time I weigh. Since I got it and have assured myself its in line with doctor's scale, I only weigh every few days. its probably still an obsession for me...but its better than weighing every day. :)

I do agree with "readyformyjourneytobe" though. Since I stopped weighing every day, I started noticing how my clothes fit, how my energy level is, even how my shoes are starting to feel loose on my feet.

I don't have a scale in the house. I weigh myself every Tuesday at the club.

I do not want to check everyday, too crazy!

I guess you are all right, I think I would obsess if I have one in the house. Maybe I'll take the suggestion and just weigh myself at the gym once a week. Thanks so much for the advice! :)wub.png

I'm obviously crazy as I weigh myself everyday!

It helps to keep me honest. I have a range that I am happy with but if I go over that I need to do something. At least this way I have an idea of where I am at. If I only weighed once a week or once a month or at the Dr's it would be so much harder to get any gain under control as it would likely be so much more.

At the moment my weight is a fraction over my comfort no of 51kg so I know that I have to stick to the rules properly. It is not something that would show up in my clothes until I was probably 2 - 3 kg overweight and when you are as vertically challenged as I am losing even those small amounts is really hard!

I completely read your post wrong!!! I thought you were talking about measuring food!! Lol!!!

I do weight myself, every single morning. I have a digital scale, and its exactly 4 pounds off from my doctors scale.< /p>

I weigh myself everyday too. Always have. I account for minor fluctuations but this way I know if I'm gaining. And if that scale says the same (higher) weight for more than 2 days in a row, I want to modify my behaviour straight away to correct it.

So I'm looking for a good scale too. I moved to Melbourne 4 months ago and my old scales were awesome, but my partner's is rubbish. It has a fluctuation of up to two kgs either way within mins. It's driving me crazy!

That's what I don't want in a scale!! I hate the whole weighing yourself three times fun lol

I weigh myself every day, too, and if it's up even a few tenths of a pound, I can usually figure out why and correct my behavior. We have two digital scales - one his, one mine, both Homedics, bought in Walmart, both very accurate. I know someone who's on Weight Watchers who weighs herself about 10 times a day - morning, night, before she pees, after she pees - now, that's obsessive-compulsive! She had to put her scale in the trunk of her car to keep from weighing herself constantly. I figure that as long as I only want to do it once a day I'm fine!

Invest in a good digital scale. Then try to place in the same spot each time. I weigh only on Saturday's except when I know I am constipated and know it will be up. I'll wait then to weigh after I know I am good. lol

I know my scale does not match the dr and know it is about 2 pounds lower :(

I'm with you, elcee! I weigh every single day and will likely continue the practice once I have surgery. Weighing daily helps me stay somewhat in control of my eating.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
