Hi my first lap band meeting is feb 29 2012:-) I've been over weight for about 10 yrs:( weighing 200 pounds on my 5'2" frame:( my BMI is at 38 and I have HTN and arthritis and who knows what else!!! I've been on lots of "diets" and haven't lost anything! Real upsetting! I know my ins will cover 90% after my deductible is paid:) is there any information I need to know:/

Hello and welcome! Make sure you check what insurance requirements (ie: what pre-op diet and time frame you have to be on, documentation, etc). Also, find out if your insurance covers the costs of the fills (most do). Ask your surgeon what type of pre-op diet you will be required to do and what type of support meetings they offer afterwards, etc.

Best of luck to you!

Good luck to you! Im just starting the lap band process myself. Had my first weigh in last week and need to follow physician supervised diet for 6 months for insurance to approve. And I can't gain any weight in those months and lose 15 pounds. A bit frustrating. I mean, isn't the whole point of getting the surgery because we're unsuccessful at dieting? I'm so nervous I'll screw up!

Welcome! You'll love this site and all the information you can gleen from here. I'm pre surgery, scheduled for Mar 21 if the insurance approval goes through ok. I've learned so much on this site and it's given me questions to ask my doctor....just read all you can, it will help to prepare you. I agree with the other be sure to check with your insurance to see what is expected of you. I had a 6 month program I had to do with a health coach. Good luck to you on your journey!
