    March Bandsters!

Hi everyone! I haven't been on in a while so thought I'd give you an update after reading all the past post since Ive been on. I had my second fill on Wednesday so I'm at 6 1/2 cc's. I do feel fuller faster but I think the 3rd fill will put me where I need to be, hopefully! I'm still doing good though, slow and steady. 1 more pound and I'll have lost 50...34 since surgery on 3/22. I'm really telling it in my clothes, so lots of small victories. I had one pair of size 24 jeans, and mostly 22's and am now in 16's...so that makes me happy!! I'm excited to see what the future holds! Sounds like most of you are doing well. Keep on looking at the reasons you had the surgery and keep your eye on the prize! Good luck to everyone! Deb

    12 Hours Post Op

Yay Cathy! You're on the other side now! I was the same with the ice chips, I slept a lot the first couple of days. If you're talking about your incisions hurting that's going to be a few weeks. A heating pad helps, and holding a small pillow against your stomach when you get up seemed to help me too, just be sure to keep up on your pain meds. And take it easy! Good luck with everything!!

    Down 110 Pounds!

Hi...sorry I missed your post! I actually had my surgery on Mar 22...liquids weren't too bad, didn't have to think much about what to have, that's for sure! I was on liquids two weeks before surgery and 4 weeks after. So far I'm down 42 pounds. I've had my first fill although I don't feel any extra restriction yet. The key is to follow your doctors orders and stay positive. Good luck on your journey.

    Protian Drinks

You could also have hair loss without enough protein.

Tmi Question, But Need To Know:

GasX strips comes in pills or strips that melt in your mouth, very easy to use. Not expensive, I think they were less than $4 or $5. Everyone is so different ..... I don't recall having "race to the bathroom" type situations at all. Good luck!

    Where are all the seniors?

Hi all.....I'm 60, 7weeks post op, down 41 pounds from the day my journey began and very happy that I decided to have the surgery! Most of my life has been yo-yo dieting and gaining just a bit more back each time. I've had my first fill last week with the next scheduled for July. Excited to see my life changing as I bring out the new me and optimistic about the future! I hope your journey goes wonderfully! Debbie in Oregon

Tmi Question, But Need To Know:

GasX strips are good to keep on hand or in your purse. Definitely not much food going through your system so the bowels slow down for most. For me if I don't go more than two days and then I'll take just a tsp of MOM. I also have some gummy fiber that I take, from Costco. Be sure to get in your water each day too. You'll adjust eventually.

    March Bandsters!

Hi Judy! How'd your fill go? I'm doing well, and yes the energy level is going up. Work is good although extremely busy. Today is normally my day off but I have to go in for a meeting soon. Yes the weight loss is slower now but I'm happy with what I've lost so far. Hit 41 lbs this morning, I have to wait until July for the second fill, so far I don't feel a huge amount of restriction but do get full or satisfied much fast, and don't feel I get the "starving" sensation like before the surgery. It's an ongoing discovery and journey for sure! Hope all is well with you! Deb
  9. I love the unjury chicken broth, mixes great and tastes great! Its 20grams of protein.

    Congratulations! You inspire us all!

    Not Eating Much

Definitely you need more protein.... I agree with Holly Dolly.
  12. I'm surprised your doctor didn't tell you about the Protein. You want to be sure to get that, for one thing you don't want your hair falling out, but it really helps with the hunger. I drink a lot of Atkins ready to drink, and I also have Body Fortress powder from Walmart to mix my own. The broth I drank was from unjury.com, mixes well and tastes yummy and 20gram of protein per cup! Right now you're in the healing stage so don't worry or focus too much on the weight loss. My doctor also allowed greek yogurt, runny cream of wheat, and surgar free pudding. Remember work to get a minmum of 60 gram and aim for 100 gr of protein a day. Everyone is so different but I found that where I use to go daily I now only go every other day. There's just not enough food going through our system like before. Your system will adjust before long, Enjoy not being constipated! lol. If I haven't gone by the end of the second day I take a teaspon of MOM. Hang in there....enjoy the journey and good luck to you! Sick

It sounds more like a bug to me but you might call your doctor tomorrow and let them know and see what they say.Hope you feel better soon!
  14. I'm assuming you have your gasX strips to help with the gas. My stomach rumbles and makes lots of noises too. Be sure you're getting enough protein 60-100+ grams per day. Walking will help the gas too. Good luck!

    Pre Op Calorie Intake

My doctor told me minimum 60 -100 gr. Some days I'm a bit over, but I've found if I'm good on my protein I don't get as hungry either.

    Best Compliment Ever!

Yikes Denise! That's awful, so glad you're doing better!

    Pre Op Calorie Intake

I was worried about that too but the nurse told me just to be sure to get enough protein....all the time. I doubled up on the scoops of protein powder for my shakes.
  18. WooHoo!!! Congratulations! You inspire all of us!! You go girl!!
  19. Greek yogurt, runny cream of wheat, mashed potatoes, tuna mashed with a boiled egg, ff pudding, hummus, fish, cottage cheese, Schwans turkey/pork meatballs. I agree with Elcee, this stage is for focussing on healing. Once you're healed and ready for regular food, If you remember to eat your Protein first, then veggies you won't have a lot of room for the carbs anyway. Good luck!

    Port Site

Once the swelling goes down you'll probably find it....mine is on the left just below my waist line. At first I had no idea where it was. Congrats on the beginning of an exciting journey!

    Pre Op, So Depressed

Happiness is a choice.....push all those negatives out of your head and focus on all the reasons why you're on this journey! I've found that I've, (with God's help!) have broken the addiction of sugar and carbs. I don't crave them like I use to. After a few more days you should start seeing that too. You can do this! Pray, pray, pray....God takes away that temptation when we ask him to. Bless you and your journey Heather! Deb
