I will get the details of my liquid diet Friday. I have been on two Protein Shakes and a sensible dinner for three weeks as prep (I chose to get ready like this). I am sure I will survive the two weeks pre-surgery, but cannot image going from all regular food to liquids overnight.

Good luck everyone, I am sure we can do this. And staying in touch will help!!

I am starting on day 6 of my pre-op diet. I am allowed 5 Protein Shakes and have lost 12 pounds in 5 days. But all I'm allowed to have is the Protein shake.....THAT'S IT! I broke last night and had a salad and a piece of turkey bacon, and I'm feeling so guilty. I've done so well with not eating anything at all for 4 straight days. My surgery is on the 12th and I'm scared that the salad will prevent me from having surgery. I don't really think it will, but the guilt is making me paranoid. HELP!

Just think that all of the calories you have burned worrying over the salad made up for any calories consumed. Just kidding. Don't worry about it overmuch and get back on track. I only hope when I start my pre-op diet I can make it 4 days without cheating. Good luck to you!

I also have done so well the past 4 days sticking to the diet. My diet at least I get to have a sensible dinner. But today I had an oops. I ate a piece of corn bread. May sound pretty small but still I wasn't suppose to eat it. I am also having the guilts from doing this. All I can say is we just have to move on and be better from now on. Good luck to you.

A full Protein Shake diet sucks! I'm on it too and I am starving. I can't handle it come evening when I am at home.

Day three of pre op I hate this. I broke down and cried this morning after I yelled at everyone in the house over nothing. I am so hungry and I have a headache and bad taste I can't get rid of. But I have lost 8 pounds. I keep telling myself if i gotta do this. I 'd kill a piece of food of anykind even a veggie.

I agree! I Today is Day 10 and I haven't been so good about a full shake diet :( I know bad of me. A couple nights, I would eat a small grilled chicken or small salad. I was trying to pass the time yesterday by reading my book my Dr gave me. I found that I am suppose to put TWO scoops of mix in and I have only been doing 1 scoop in my Water. Oops, maybe thats why I have been starved (nonstop stomach growling, feeling crappy? I am diabetic too)..

So today, I have used two scoops in my Water, its last a little longer but haven't let myself get too far hungry before I grab another Protein shake. I can have 3-5 shakes a day.

I truly think these two weeks prior to surgery are the most difficult. I start my all clear liquid diet tomorrow as my surgery is on Tuesday and I am beyond ready. I am done being crabby, lethargic, etc. It does take its toll on you. Is it worth it, YES!! I am down 16 pounds so I am super excited about that, but I am just so hungry!! It has been a long two weeks to say the least. Hang in there everyone! It will all be worth it in the end!!

Otters38 your surgery is really close right? Sounds like you've done well for the pre-op and great that you've lost 16 lbs! Good for you! I started the liquids early since the insurance said I have to do a finaly weigh in and can't have a gain showing. I did lose 2 lbs since I started yesterday morning, hope to do more since I have to weigh at the end of the day...ugh!! Good luck to all of you, hang in there! Deb

I started my pre-op officially this morning. Yesterday I got a head start so I could make sure I would like the Protein shakes and stuff. I thought the ones yesterday were good enough. so I wasn't too worried about having something to drink. But this morning I tried two other recipes and thought they were awfull and had to pour them out. I went back to the one I made yesday.

I fing it odd how different everyones diet is. Some hardly have anything to do excapt a liquid diet the night before where othere seem to be on a very strict shakes only diet. I would be curious to know how much difference it makes.

I get to have a small meal now as well, I'm so thrilled!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
