Ok thanks!

I have not, but I saw somewhere else on this forum that a patient was instructed to use "silcone sheets" to make scars less noticeable. I bought them from Walgreens here in Maryland. I just put 1 on today since my steri-strips havent fallen off of all my incisions yet. I'll keep you posted on the progress.

Hi Lisanj,

I see your doctor is same as mine, my surgery 3/28/12. How did everything go with the doc and his staff, just curious what to expect.

Thank you.

Well just an observation but I'm 4 days post surgery and I have NO idea how there are some people who go back to work next day. I went to church with my husband this morning and the instant I got home I needed to go to bed. I'm already considering not working tomorrow, I have serious respect for those of you who went to work immediately.

Today was my first day back to work 12 hrs when I got off was too tired to drive but knew I had too. i was achey and wanted to cry. hopes this gets better. I was not ready to go back still very sluggish and tired.

Hi Judych,

Nice to hear from someone going to surgery on the same day. Wish you all the best. I get so emotional thinking about this surgery. I feel like I have so much riding on this.

Its not really the food..it's more like i feel all alone because i am not part of what my family is doing..seems like everything revolves around food..i dont know if that makes sense

yep. it makes sense. you are probably feeling like a cord has been cut. You have been a part of the family get togethers all your life with meals involved . Now you have stepped back from actually joining in the way you used to with the meals.... i bet you are wondering even if the gatherings will be the same?? im going through these mental issues and i havent been banded yet. i have family gatherings here at our home . we have children in their forties now and they in turn have children. my kids and grandkids have always wanted to come here to Celebrate birthdays and xmas. we always have a table that is just groaning with food. Now i know that i cant behave like i used to. i can cook, prepare, compliment the others on their food dishes that they bring, but i cant sit down and wade through like everyone else does. This happens more times in a year that i have ever thought of. im wondering now how much im going to enjoy the social side of it knowing that i cant eat much at all?? ...and , whats more, this is a shameful thing to say. .it makes me realize just how much we were/are depending on the food side of it to enjoy each other. So, no, you arent alone and how you feel isnt silly... its perfectly understandable considering what you have taken on. Give it time, just recognise it for what it is, and work it out. Food isnt supposed to be the crutch for social gatherings... and we need to be able to renew our thinking on this one. Just imagine yourself being with family members, being slimmer, being healthy, being in control. you will find that you will enjoy the gatherings more because you will feel good about yourself through it all. Just a thought, i hope you feel better real soon. sending hugs judy

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
