Pregnancy after the band...

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if anyone has gotten pregnant after the band? I was diagnosed with PCOS at 18 and I've tried to get pregnant before the band except I was not ovulating...I never got my period on my own which is part of PCOS. I know this is a question for my doctors but I was wondering if anyone has had this experience. If so how long did you wait after getting the band? I appreciate any comments! :)

I also have PCOS but was able to get pregnant twice with fertility help. I hope you are as lucky after you are banded.

My doc asks people to wait one year after being banded to get pregnant. You may want to check this with your doctor though.

Good luck!

Yeah my OBGYN said the same thing. But I just wanted to ask if anyone has had the experience.

Good luck on your surgery on Tuesday! :clap2:

My cousin is pregnant with the band. They tell you to wait atleast a year after the band is in place due to that is your "optimal weight loss period." BUT....I guess losing 45 lbs, got her more active in bed...and she is pregnant 4 months after having the band. She also has PCOS. She is now 3 months pregnant and doing well!!!

I am currently pregant and banded. I started my band journey at 305lbs and was 233lbs when I conceived. I got pregnant as soon as I stopped taking the pill.

Thanks for all your responses...it was great to hear. It gives me some hope. Because ever since I was 18 and I was diagnosed with PCOS I was convinced that I'd never to able to have a baby...which I want so badly.

Maysa: Congrats on your baby girl!

Jacilyn: I hope everything goes well with your pregnancy, are you going to find out what it is?

Skbishop78: That was the most helpful post because she had PCOS, thank you. Is your cousin on the website?

Thanks!

No, I haven't really told her about the website, we don't talk that much. We are not real close, I just know that she has had alot of trouble conceiving...and she does have PCOS and endometreosis. Good luck, and I will keep you posted as to how she is doing. My mom always keeps me updated on her.

I'm glad that someone made this thread because I've often wondered myself about getting preg. after being banded.....I'm just 21 and I really don't want any kids right now but in a way I do and I just wondered if it was hard to get preg. & with the band does the baby get enough food/protien/vitamins to stay healthy.....

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
