I've been banded 3 weeks today, the pain I feel in my shoulder is so hard. The pain starts in my shoulder and then it either moves up to my jaw or down to my arm. I take vicodin but it doesn't stop the pain entirely. I don't regret the surgery because I've lost good amount of weight but this pain in my shoulder is killing me. I keep hearing that it's gas, I try to burp to get rid of it and I exercise.

Please can anyone help me with getting rid of this pain, I go back to work next week...........help!!!!!!!!

Try a hot pack on your shoulder, it seems to help most folks. Some people seem to get some relief from 'windmilling'

their arms (when no one is looking). I hope this helps and your pain eases. The most helpful thing will just be time.

I get that if I overeat. Is it at all associated with when or how much you eat? Your doc needs to know.

You are only three weeks out from your surgery so you have about three more weeks of this on/off pain. Walking is the best way to get rid of the gas trapped in your abdominal cavity since the surgery. It really will subside, slowly but surely. I am 4 months out from my surgery. Like you, I thought that pain would never go away but it does. Walk as much as you can every day. Remember to eat slowly and chew very well. You are probably just getting to solids so chew, chew, chew!

While it very well may be gas pains it just as easily be something else. Be on the safe side and call you doctor-he may want to do a ekg and labs to rule out anything else. The pain going up into the jaw and down the arm raises a red flag. don't waste time and call the doctor right away. Always better to be safe. Good luck

I think I would call the Dr. if the pain meds don't help. If your jaw is hurting that sounds different. Call the Dr.

Try a heating pad for comfort, and walk as much as you can.

If it's Gas, If you move it moves, and it will come out.

Check with your Dr. Also, and explain it to him/her, they might have a different idea.

I would call the doctor or just go to the ER asap as well if I were you. I mean you are telling us that you have pain traveling from your shoulder to your jaw. Is this common for banded people? Anyone else have these symptoms? I am not banded yet and would like to know.

I was banded Dec. 14, 2011 and noticed after I left the "liquid stage" and on to mush that I was having severe pain in my shoulder, left jaw and behind left eye socket like this pressure that would go from a pain 1 level to 10 in a instant. I just had xray and cat scan done yesterday and I find out my results Thursday. I did try using a heating pad, but it didn't do much help. I'll let you know what I find out - but I'd tell your doctor what's going on so they'll know your having issues! Praying for you!

Thanks everybody, I spoke to my dr on Wednesday and was given a cocktail of vicodin, naproxen and valium and I am happy to say that I have no pains today. I have to take the cocktail for a few more days and hopefully the pain will be gone forever.

Cynsae, did your doctor say WHY you were having these pains? Just curious if it was "just" gas or what.

Msfotobug, I can ask, he spoke to the nurse and she sent in the prescription. I will send an email to the dr's office and ask and will advise when I get the information.

I have put the HP on the side. The pain is there due to a nerve that the port sits near. That is what I have heard anyway. If you have new wounds don't heat over them. It really helped my pain

I am in the same situation exactly! Banded Dec 14th too! Just recently, I developed an excruciating pain that filled my thoracic region, went up my neck, into my jaw and arm and even down into my leg. I did nothing but moan. Drugs didn't help me either. It was a build up of gas but it has been almost a week now and I STILL feel like someone has beaten me across the back with a bat.

So, please, let me know what your test results show. I have my first post-op visit next week. Thanks!

My surgeon told me this was referred pain from moving my diaphragm during the surgery. Mine cleared after a few weeks. Good luck.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
