I am a newbie to this forum and also to having a lap-band.

I am looking forward to meeting others with the lap-band and sharing our experiences and losses and support.

My name is Maggie and I'm 28 and live in Oklahoma. My starting BMI is about 44 I think and I started this journey at 263.6 lbs.

I've only been banded a few days but I'm down about 4 pounds I think.

Hi everyone!

Dear Maggie,

Great job, so far! How was your trip to Mexico? How do you feel right now? I have not been banded, yet. I am in the process.

Good luck and keep posting about your experience!

I really enjoyed the trip to Mexico. It is so beautiful there and everyone is so nice in Puerto Vallarta. I haven't had too many problems, mostly just bruising and soreness.

I DID run fever for a few hours last night. It got to 102 degrees and I was chilling. It seemed to go away on it's own though and hasn't come back. Any ideas? Should I see a doc or just wait it out and see if it comes back?

Thanks for the great welcome!

I feel absolutely wonderful! My bruises are fading and the soreness is barely there and just over the port area.

My husband and I layed a wood laminate floor in our dining room yesterday if that gives you any hint to my condition. I am now down 10.2 lbs. in 10 days and I couldn't be happier with my decision. I have very little pain, I can eat small portions of pretty much whatever I want and the band kicks in and tells me when to stop by making me feel full and the weight is falling off.

Basically, the band acts as my food traffic cop. I eat, I get full, I lose weight because it's a lot less food than I used to eat. It's like having that ability to get full quickly that we all wish we had all along so we wouldn't be where we are today.

Thank God for medical advances. I think I might just have a life again.

Wow Maggie! I am impressed. You are doing so well and seem to have much energy. Laying floors, I don't think I could have done that pre-surgery, but at 10 days out... you are my hero. I was banded on Tuesday 2/3 and although I feel better each day, I still don't feel like doing much of anything. I try to walk as much as possible, but other than that, I am resting.

Keep us up to date on your progress. I sure hope I feel as good as you on my 10th day.

Take Care,

Sassaay,

We are very close in weight, within a couple of pounds, and we're very close in banding date. I'd really like to become friends and keep each other updated with progresses, milestone cheering, etc. How does that sound?

My email is maggie@dealhunting.com.

I was still feeling pretty puny around day four-six so don't get discouraged. I really only started feeling good in the last couple of days.

Maggie

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
