First Post Lap Band Surgery Doctor Visit

Recommended Posts

I was banded on 12/7. i have lost 15 pounds since then. I go for my first follow up appt on tuesday teh 20th. Am I going to get my first fill? I barely can eat a 1/4 cup of anything solid yet. Can I ask him to wait another month? Who else has gone for their follow up for December Bandsters?

brendap,

if you can only eat approx a 1/4 cup of anything at a time, you may already have Fluid in your band from the time of the surgery. I had my first post op appt after just one week, everything looked good, but they had no intention of putting more fluid in. I think they usually wait 6 weeks before they add. I did have my 2nd post op at 7 wks and they did add more fluid. Since your appt is at 2 weeks, i wouldnt think they would do a fill, but each doc seems to do things very differently. Good luck!

You say this is your FIRST post-op visit. Mine was exactly 7 days after surgery.

All the Dr. wanted to do was check my incisions, for healing, infections etc., told me I did not have to bandage them anymore, cleared me for going to the gym, soaking in the tub, etc, etc.

Answered any questions I may have had. basically wanted to see how I was doing following the surgery.

I came back 3 weeks after that, which is 4 weeks from surgery, and started my fill regime, which was every 4 weeks, for a total of 3 fills.

yes this will be my first visit, at the hospital they told me to call the next week to set up a follow up appt and when I did they made it for Dec 20. I thought that was a bit far away, but thankfully I have followed the drs diet an havent had any problems. I can drink and 8ox shake but when it comes to mushies, I can eat only a little. thanks for the help.

Wow I was banded on 11/30 and my first post op visit is 12/19. I can eat pretty much anything right now. I hope I don't get a fill for awhile yet. But we shall see.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
