Other Meats Like Ham Or Pork After Lap Band Surgery ?

Recommended Posts

I've only heard of people eating mostly chicken or fish for Protein. Does anybody eat ham or maybe pork. Was wondering if it agrees with the band or is it like eating steak?

Everyone is different, I am over 5 years out and I still have a hard time with chicken and turkey. The easiest Proteins for me are lean ground beef and Beans. It's all trial and error, you just have to find what works for you! Good luck!

I can eat most meats if they are roasted. Then they are usually OK but really dense things e.g pork chops give me problems.

kielbasa on the grill is my favorite but i dont eat it very often because of the sodium. usually cant do chicken or porkchops unless i soak them in barbque sauce or ranch dressing then ive got all those calories ugh..never a happy medium.

I can eat very tender steak or bbq'd carne asada -- as long as the meat is tender and chews up really well. I also can eat lean pork roast and sometimes shredded pork. It is true everyone is a little different and it is definitely trial and error. Sometimes chicken and turkey are too dry. Good luck.

I can eat anything after 2 yrs. Including pork chops bread Pasta rice and steak. The only thing that gives me problems is pizza crust-I throw up everytime I attempt to eat it. I eat 1 pc of bacon about 5 mornings a wk.

I love my band. I can still eat anything I want - just in very small quantities.

Good luck!

I can eat any meat if it is just cooked, even roast pork but i slice it wafer thin and use a sharp knife and cut all meat up very small, i love fish tho so eat more fish than anything. Cold meat is a no no for me tho, but i eat wild alaskan smoked salmon every day, low in calories, high protien and almost no fat. i only eat red meat maybe once a week.

I eat ham, port, fish, steak, turkey oh heck I eat all meat but I buy good cuts of meat and cook them tender. You dont have to stick to chicken. If I really want something that will give me trouble I have my husband put it in the smoker comes out so tender anyone could eat it.

Fish and chicken are usually lower calorie, that is why you see them referred to so often.

At 2.75 years out, I can eat most meats as long as they are tender and not dry.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
