Think I'm Going To A Different Lap Band Surgeon

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone!

So I posted a thread about my horribly awful pre op appt. with my so called "surgeon" yesterday. I have never felt that low in my life when I left the appt. He was border line mentally abusive I think. I don't mind constructive criticism by any means, but he was just putting me down left and right. Knowing I will be having to see him for quite some time post op, made me decide to look around. Well, a friend of mine told me about another surgeon that's a little further away, but she said he was absolutely wonderful and so was his staff (which is also very crucial). I called them today and they think they can get everything switched over to still do my surgery by the end of this month. I'm praying everything goes successful.

For someone that hasn't ever struggled with obesity, they have NO CLUE about it and what all it in tales. It's a disease. I didn't just end up this way yesterday. This has been a life long problem.

I'm really wanting to get the surgery done before Jan 1 because our insurance is going to be under a different carrier. Same policy, but different carrier. I don't really think anything will change about it, but kinda scared to take that chance. I know that they pay for weight loss surgery but don't know about them requiring a 6 month diet, which I did not have to do with my current insurance. If for some reason I can't have it until January or February, I'm willing to make that choice. I just can't see myself going to someone that's going to ridicule me at every follow up appt. For instance, my friend was banded 4 months ago. She's lost 40 lbs. She went in for her fill, and he asked her why she hadn't lost more weight, and that 40 lbs wasn't good enough.

JERK!!!

I really think he is totally in it for the money and he's a bully. He also told me that he wanted to do the band with plication on me. I had no idea what it was and asked him to explain. He said, "trust me, it'll benefit you." what???? Something is not right about this man.

Anyways, praying everything goes smooth and will be banded on Dec 21st.

Wow!!!! This guy sounds like a real jerk. I have been going through this process since July, and honestly it hasn't felt THAT long. 6 months is a drop in the bucket compares to having to deal with this guy for the rest of your life. I say, take the chance! No to mention, if you don't like your Dr or get a bad feeling from going there, you are much less likely to go if something is wrong or you need an adjustment. At my Dr office, they said there are some ppl that just get the bad and never come back, for ehatever reason, and those are the ppl that end up overweight again.

I do typo's all the time! ha! I am feeling the same way. 6 months is better than forever. I was thinking the same thing to as far as not wanting to deal with them if something was wrong. I just can't believe he has the business he does. He might be a good surgeon on the table, but he has the worst bed side manner I've ever experienced in my life. Brought me back to being picked on as a child. Terrible.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
