When did your fills really start to work for you?

How well do you know your fills?

Do they kick right in or do they sneak up on you days/weeks later and bam! restriction?

Great question! I have had 2 fills, and it seems like they "kicked in" a couple weeks afterward. However, I still don't have much restriction. My doctor also told me that you're supposed to feel a fill right away. He has done thousands of lab band surgeries and has not heard of a fill "kicking in" later on.

I am very interested to know what other people have experienced.

With my 1st fill i was filled 1.2 cc and felt hardly any restriction. I just monitored my eating to the best of my ability. I go tomorrow for my 2nd fill. Hopefully that will work, i want to be a LOSER!

I have had 2 fills 3 cc's then 2 cc's My second fill was the day before yesterday. Both times I have had to return to a full liquid diet. This time it was hard to drink Water at first but today I was able to eat Soup (Tomatoe only) and a bit of Peanut Butter (Peanuts Only)

I took a bit of a risk but my first fill worked for about 3 weeks then stopped working and I actually went up and down. I decided not to worry if I felt overfilled for a few days this time. If after a couple of weeks or so I still can't eat solids I will go back and get a un-fill. This may be wrong but I want to use the band as a tool that increases my rate of loss now and then use it as a tool to maintain my wait once I have lost all my weight.

Hello--

I just had my first fill (1 cc) on 2/13/06. So far, I feel a little more restricted, but not much-- mostly when I eat too fast. I read where a lot of you don't feel restricted until like 1-2 weeks after. How is this possible? I mean, you get the fill- shouldn't it be instantaneous? I do not get this-- can someone clue me in on why this happens?

Kelly

I have had 2 fills 2 cc's, my surgery was 11/02/05. I went in 2 days ago on the 14th for a possible fill and since I had lost 10.4 pounds since my last fill I did not have a fill. I did not feel any different with the first fill. With the second I noticed a great difference about 2 weeks afterwards. Right now, I think I am doing well, I might not need any more fills. Time will tell (and the scale).

i've had 2 fills now, and still no restriction. my first "real" fill kicked in a few days after, but i didnt eat real food until then either, just thick liquids, so maybe that has something to do with it.

I've been sticking to the diet though, even though its nearly torture to not eat normal when i know i can...

Ok....can someone explain the term "no restrictions" ?

Do it mean that you don't feel any pressure to know your full??? I'm confused.

Obviously not banded yet! : )

I had my first fill on Thursday for 1.0cc. I felt almost instant restriction, but before then I felt absolutely none. I'm wondering if this will be enough and the thought of mine "kicking in" later is a great thought as my fill doc is 3.5 hours away!

I think I'm confused as well. If my doc injects saline into my band, how would I *not* experience restriction? Why would there be a delay in experiencing restriction?

Thanks for any answers. I'm not due for my first fill for another 5 weeks, but I'd like to get a better picture of what the experience is like.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
