Hi Sara,

This seems to be largely a matter of custom. The surgeons where I was banded do it as outpatient surgery, but probably most places do have patients stay overnight.

Can you ask any other patients of your doctor's? Or maybe there's someone here or on another bandster group who was banded at the same hospital. Where are you having surgery?

My doctor required an overnight stay and that morning scheduled a swallow test to see if barium would go through the band before he sent you home. My surgery was 10:30 and I was home (with an hour drive) by 1PM the next day. Good luck!
