Recommended Posts

HI everyone I was banded on 11/1/11, I never thought in a million yrs this would hurt so much, but as days go by, today 11/5/11, I see i feel much better, but where the port is its really bruise and still hurts with some swollen there, other insicions dont hurt, is this normal?

That port stuck in the middle of your stomach muscle is pretty big lump. just think how much a splinter

in your finger feels. A Little pain and swelling is perfectly normal. If it gets hot and swells a lot or seeps

pus or any other Fluid, get to your doctor ASAP. Sorry you had so much pain.

Hi Mimi122,

Wow, just this week! I hope you're feeling better soon. I just had a hysterectomy (3 weeks ago) so I'm just coming off of a surgery with incisions (4 1-inch incisions on my belly). Can I ask, how many incisions this surgery requires? I just joined this forum today, researching. I'm excited and nervous all at the same time!

I was banded on 10/27. Im feeling so much better but my port site is still pretty sore. I have 5 incisions, 4 keyhole size and port incision is about 1 1/2 inch. I had to do two weeks of liquids pre op, one week thin liquids post op, one week of thick liquids and pureed food, one week of mashed food, then you can start working in solids. But docs have different requirements. The first week after surgery I was not hungry at all, now my appetite is back but I'm hanging in there.

Oh yes, it can definitely be a little sore. I was banded on April 25. The one incision with the port was on my pant line exactly, so I definitely had some pain. Also, it's much bigger so it takes longer to heal. The smaller ones didn't hurt me much either after a day or two.

Hot is okay. Your body is probably just trying to fight any bad bacteria that may be in there. It's only been a few days, so it's okay. Just make sure that it doesn't leak anything for that's a sign of infection. My band port incision didn't get infected, but I had a smaller one that did. If you're in trouble, you'll know, I promise.

As for now, get some R&R and keep an eye on it. :) Take your pain meds and take it easy.

Good luck on your journey!

I have five incisions. My port site (to the left of my belly button) and my belly button incision still hurt at times. I think the belly button site hurts because of scar tissue from 3 prior laparoscopic procedures. My poor belly button :(

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
