Can we get some life in this place? I know you guys are out there, I see you in the other forums. Let's get some local love!

Ok, so I'm technically in MO, but no one outside of our two states known the difference anyway.

Please post and let us know you're there! I'd love to find someone else who has used my doc or center... SMMC.

I am here in Ks. I am in the begining stages getting scheduled for Lapband surgery. I have chosen Dr Hoehn at SMMC. Today I went on my 3rd visit to the psychologist and have some concerns I will discuss with him next week. Read some scary stuff tonite on the kcbariatric website, there is a link to read reviews of the hospital and the Dr. All good stuff on Dr Hoehn, which was great. BUT, the night nurses at SMMC sound like the nurses from HELL. Some of the posts were 2-3 yrs old so I hope the staff have read these and cleaned house! I am excited about having surgery and am learning some things. Specifically that I dont think I get enough Protein in my diet. Which might be why I am SO hungry at night. Hummm Looking forward to hearing from other Kansas Sunflowers!

Hehe, I love getting up in the morning and turing the puter on - because of the time differences you've all been busy while I've been sleeping. I always have at least 4 pages of New Posts to go through guaranteed, takes me 2 cups of coffee, while the kids are still asleep.

I am on the Ks side. Dr. Malley is my dr. He is in Shawnee - just moved to a new office. I was banded on 2/2/06 and am waiting for my 1st fill. Right now I can eat anything and am not losing. Hopefully he will do enough of a fill in a VG band that I will get a restriction. People around me say just to wait and it will work. I hope so.

Sorry, I missed the note that there were replies here!

I am getting banded by Dr. Hoehn at SMMC. I am in NE Kansas City, about 35 - 40 mins from SMMC if I miss the traffic on 35. I got all my PATs done last week... my last appointment with Dr. Sabapathy... and my surgery is Wednesday.

I'm getting banded by Dr. Hoehn on March 1st too. I just got all my x-rays & visits done today, so it's all a waiting game from here until Wednesday morning.

At this point, I'm just ready for it to be over with and get on with the beginning of the rest of my life!

Jennifer

Wow Jennifer, small world! What time is your surgery?

I did my PATs last week. I went to the info night back in November. I, too, and growing a little impatient. After my last trek there tomorrow morning, I guess it will all be downhill.

I was banded by Dr Hoehn on 4/23/08. I have had three fills -- but am not sure I understand what the "sweet spot" is supposed to feel like. Somedays I almost feel bulemic (sliming and vomiting).......the next day I can eat almost anything and lots of it!! I have lost 28 lbs -- which is about 1/3 of my needed total wt loss. I have a terrible time trying to control my fast eating and not enuff chewing -- plus I am a non stop drinker of Water and tea -- so never remember to stop drinking prior to, during and after the meal. I constantly worry about my band slipping -- or stretching my pouch. I get a little paranoid about any slight pains.....

I am due for another fill in about 2 wks. I see by your surgery date that your are an "ole pro" -- so would appreciate your input..........

Hey all. I'm Jessica from Lenexa, KS. I got banded on Monday, the 28th by Dr. Jesse Lopez. This week I've just been healing and drinking lots of liquids. Today I got to start my full liquids, never been so happy to eat yogurt!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
