I think my port may be infected

6 days post op. My incisions are covered with that durabond glue stuff so i dont have sutures or butterfly strips. A few days ago my port sight looked funny. I thought it was puss but dh said it just looked like a scab. Its not really redder than the other incisions and its not warm. It looked like how you have a cut but keep it covered too much and the scab never has time to dry out. Well i figured it was from the glue stuff. Tonight i got home from the kids school and noticed a tiny bump on the "scab". I touched

it and stuff came out. It didnt have an odor. Now i am FREAKING out. I will be calling the dr first thing tomorrow.

If i have an infection i will be so pissed bc i suspected it but dh convinced me otherwise. Grrrrr

Make sure you keep it clean with soap in water. Mines started to look nasty also. I went to the doc and they just told me to keep it dry and clean. I was also afraid! I hope all is well with yours.

Keep it clean, dry and covered. I dealt with an infection for 6 weeks... And had to have another surgery because of it. I'm not trying to freak you out... It doesn't sound like an infection to me because of the lack of heat.. And if it is it sounds like you caught it pretty early.

Hope all goes well with you when you speak to your doctor! Keep us posted.

Talked to the PA. Described what was going on and she said it does NOT sound like an infection. She said just sounds like fluid from it healing. Its not redder than any of my other incisions, not warm. She said keep it clean. I go see dr on friday.
