thoughts of food are creeping in...

3rd week on liquids....almost 1 week post op and I'm thinking and wonder what will I be able to eat when I can eat again. I'm over liquids....I want something solid....or at least soft!

  • Hi Jackie this time is also about learning to not have our lives revolve so much around food. To learn to have family time where you don't pig out will teach you daughter a wonderful life long lesson

I just want something with some consistency and I am tired of room temp crap.

I feel your pain Jackie-- This period is pretty divisive among Bandsters I think.

Meaning, with skim Milk and the right powder, Protein shakes honestly don't taste all that different than a milkshake or a malt to me. That being said, I don't really care for milkshakes or ice cream. I find them too sweet.

My weakness is hot savory foods (like pizza heehee). As a result, I think this period is more of a tough adjustment for people like me, since a majority of the things that are allowed are sweet: Jello, Protein Shakes, carnation instant breakfast, thinned juices, etc.

I think that's why some people seem to have almost no trouble making it through this period, and some find it hellish.

Either way, cream Soups are calling my name tomorrow, and I cannot wait to dig into some tomato Soup from La Madeline.

It annoys me that my post was taken as I am concerned about pigging out or that my family time consists of pigging out. I would think it's only human to think about eating after you haven't in almost 3 weeks.....just bc I want to eat something it doesn't mean I want a whole pizza or something terrible. I just want something with some consistency and I am tired of room temp crap.

I decided to do this for myself and my family....don't we all?? I mean I appreciate the positive points but also I am quite aware of the obvious reasons......just had to get that off of my chest.

As for all of the helpful replies, thank you so much!!! :-) I can't wait to try some new shake ideas!

And for what it's worth Jackie, I think you should try making your shakes slightly colder. Why don't you make them as cold as possible without condensation on the glass?

I mean, theoretically Jello has to be refrigerated and is cold when eaten, so I would assume your Protein shakes could be refrigerated temperature.

Thanks Faz! My doc says no hot or cold for 3 weeks bc it can cause stomach spasm or gas.....I did try a cold shake and felt gassy (but that was a few days ago...) So I will try again.
