New to the Site-Week after surgery

Hello:

I am new to the blog but I have heard it is uber important to have a connection with others who have had lap-band. This first week has been rough and emotional. I was not prepared for the shoulder and back pain after the surgery and was completely caught off guard. This was the first surgery I have ever had in my life and have never been put under.

The liquid diet sucks............I am eating the same things and it is such a struggle. I am trying to remember why Im doing this each day and that it is worth it. I am looking forward to the soft food diet where I get to actually chew my foods. I just want to feel 100% again. Some days my stomach is queasy and others i can't tell whether Im hungry or my stomach is upset!! I underestimated the bloating and gas and of course I started my period the day after surgery. Its been a rollercoaster rider for sure.

The good news is, everything you described is completely normal and will go away soon! Stay positive and remember why you did this (for YOURSELF!) And sip that water!

Welcome to the board, you will learn a lot here.

I feel your pain! Lol!! Im a week out and I just do not feel like myself!! The liquid diet is killin me!! I want to chew food....

You are describing exactly how I was feeling. Same symptoms. But I am 3 weeks out from surgery now and eating sof/mushy foods and I feel pretty normal. It will get better, I promise. That first week is not easy, but trust me, it will get easier, so just keep remembering the big picture. You can deal with a week or two of liquids and a little discomfort for the prize that is about to come! Hang in There!!
