I've been lurking and reading almost every single post for quite some time. I decided it was time to finally join the forums and start participating. I went to a seminar at the beginning of the year and had my initial consult on Feb 28, 2011. I have Cigna, so I had to do a 6 month supervised diet. I had my last weigh-in on Monday, Aug 15. Today, Wednesday, Aug 17, I called the insurance company to see if the surgeon's office had submitted the paperwork. The girl I talked to said that not only had it been submitted, but I was approved! Woohoo! Now it's all becoming real and I'm terrified and excited all at the same time.

It's great to be here!

I would be excited too! Congrats on getting approved! That's the thing I'm worried about the most, the thought of surgery isn't bothering me at all but not knowing if I will get approved is driving me nuts lol. My seminar isn't even until the 8th so it seems like forever, but it's mandatory so I will do everything that needs to be done. Congrats again on your surgery. You will do great! Do you have a date scheduled yet?

No date scheduled yet. I'll probably have something confirmed in the next day or two. I'm thinking sometime next month, but we'll see.

I have a question, did they count the first meeting with the nutrionist towards the 6 months process? I was told by the lap band center that the initial meeting doesnt count so its relly more like 7 months ( I have Cigna also).

Also, if you dont mind sharing, what was your BMI, did you have any co-morbidities? I just want to compare and see if mine will hopefully go as smoothly as yours!

Correct. I met with the nutritionist once and then had 6 appointments with my regular dr for weigh-ins. It's not really 7 months though. You have to have 6 appointments, but one can be on the last day of the month and the other one the first of the next month. You just have to have weigh-ins in 6 consecutive months. At least, that's how it was explained to me. My current BMI is 47.1. I do have co-morbitites - hypertension and thyroid disease. Cigna has been really nice about answering any questions I've had.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
