A little frustrated. Plateau already?

Hi guys,

I was banded on 7/18 and so far I've lost 12 pounds post band. Before that I lost about 15 pounds from the pre-op diet. It seemed that right after surgery I was losing about a pound per day. Ever since I started mushies and now regular food, I haven't been able to move past the 260 mark and it's so frustrating! I just want to see 5 as the middle number but it isn't happening!

I eat about 800 calories per day. I exercise about 3 times per week right now. Gradually increasing intensity and frequency. Still doing 1 shake per day because I'm afraid of stretching my pouch. I find that 3 weeks after surgery I have very little restriction and I can eat about 3/4-1cup of food before I am full. I eat 2-3 times per day.

Do you think getting a fill will help? I'm not scheduled for one until the 23rd. Any advice would be great.

When I switched from my clear liquid diet to mushies I gained 5 pounds. When I went from mushies to solids, I gained 5 again. Don't worry. Your body needs to adjust to the changes. It's normal.

you may need to bump up you calories. You might be putting your body into starvation mode which means it will hold onto every calorie it can.

Hang in there (I should take my own advise) your body needs to adjust. I lost 22 lbs pre and post op (7/6) and not an ounce in the last three weeks. Just keep at it...it will pay off.

That's exactly what happened to me! I got so discouraged! After the big post op drop in weight it seems like such a let down! :blink:But I made a commitment and leaned on the support here. So many have had this and much tougher problems and are really helpful.

I got my 2nd fill last week and I can finally feel some resistance so I'm finally on the move again. Now I need to exercise more...;)

I had the same issues about 3 weeks after surgery. I was eating about 800 calories a day. I ended up increasing my calories to 1000 and started losing weight again. Now I eat 1000-1200 a day and lose consistently.

The first 6 to 8 weeks is about healing not loosing
