Those of you with HSA Accounts...

Have you had any luck with getting them to pay for any of your Vitamins, Protein powders or gym memberships?

I know mine says in certain circumstances they cover those things and we have a LOT to use up before December 31 otherwise we will lose it.

So I thought, Hmm I wonder if they would really cover any of that. Anybody have experience with this?

I would be interested to know this also. I am about to have a new insurance plan through my work and I am going with the HSA plan so that after I meet the 2700.00 deductible, everything is paid at 100%. I am curious about this type of plan. I have never used this type before. Do you like having a HSA?

Well if it is a true HSA, typically you don't lose your money it rolls over. If it is an FSA then you lose it. Also, last year 2010 you could use it for the vitamins and over the counter meds. Not sure about the membership at all. This year, however, you can no longer use it for over the counter medications. It must be rx meds only, but if your doc will give you a script for it then go for it and keep it in your records.

Sorry, yeah ours is an FSA. I'm going to call them today and see what they say about vitamins. It can't hurt to ask right?
