Hi , I am excited now.....had my consult on Friday and I am on my way !! I have my psych evaluation tomorrow morning, have my dietician app.for 2/8 and my gastroenterologist 2/3........then they can give me a date !! There is a chance I can get in Feb. because of a cancellation if all goes well !! I have been reading here for awhile and I not only want to thank you all so much for all the info I have picked up but also all the positive re-enforcement.

Congratulations!

Your on your way to being banded...and it sounds like everything is going very quickly! My experience was the same...it was a two month turn around between my seminar and being banded...I was in such agony waiting...I can't imagine those that wait an entire year...

Good Luck!

As one of those people who had to wait an entire year, I can't imagine going from decision to surgery in just two months! :)

I'm very happy for you and hope things continue to move along smoothly. Good luck!!

Wow,

I'm one of those lucky people, my wait was only 3 weeks. My primary care MD was totally for it as she has seen me struggle with my weight for 20 years and several of her patients have had great success. She scheduled all the preop, and the surgeon set the date. (but my insurance covered everything but the surgery, they consider it investigational). So, I decided instead of a new car, a happier and healthier Carol was more important. It's been 4 weeks since the surgery, 30 pounds thinner, and feeling wonderful.

I hope you continue to be excited and that everything goes very well for you. CONGRATS

Carol

WOW, Carol what a wonderful loss in such a short time !! The Dr who i had my consult with wants you to go to 3 support meetings before the 1st appointment so I waited 3 months for the consult appointment .... imagine my suprise when the girl in the office said MAYBE we can get you in Feb if you get all the other clearances in time. Usually it takes about 4-6 months after !! I have been doing research on this for about 8 months so when i saw the DR I had already made up my mind. Alex, i am also a jersey girl !! I am from down the shore. So many of your posts have been so helpful during my time of decision.......thanks. :)

I thinker it was quicker for me because I actually had a workup and consultation for RNY last year and then just emotionally decided I could not change my complete lifestyle that drastically for the rest of my life and cancelled two weeks prior to my appt. My primary MD is just wonderful and was very supportive of this. I know for the RNY they also want you to attend so many support groups and go to therapy prior. I did see a therapist prior to the lapband but it was a one hour appt (and actually with a friend). So we did what was required and then just gabbed the rest of the time.

Contact your Primary MD's office and see if they can expedite this for you (and what you can do to help them). I actually wrote my brief medical history and a letter for my MD so she wouldn't have to research all the way back through my charts for dates. She just fine tuned everything and it was perfect.

GOOD LUCK and keep us posted.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
