Anyone banded that has irregular heartbeat?

So I am in the early stages of my journey for lap-band surgery. I have my 1st surgeon appointment June 30. I have had problems with irregular heartbeat most of my life. The doctors say it is caused from a block accessory pathway, basically my heart does not fire right. I haven't had many problems because of this, but I am concerned how surgery will effect me. Also, if I am stressed or fatigued, the irregularity increases. Anyone else out there have the same thing that has already been banded? Tell me what your experience has been. Thanks

They have liquid meds you can take. Or you can crush up pills in powder with water ask your Dr.

  • My mum had irregular heartbeat. Since she got banded it hasn't returned.

I have not been banded yet but I have SVT where my heart rate does the same thing. I am also a little worried because when I am nervous my heart rate goes up. I take a beta blocker and a calcium channel blocker and I am worried because I heard you can't take pills right after the surgery. I see my surgeon on July 12. I am eager to hear what your surgon says! Good luck.

I also take a beta blockers which controls me very well. There is no way I can go without it. When I have bad flare ups, my heart rate gets into the mid 200's, and will not regulate without medical intervention. I have scheduled an appointment with the cardiologist to get clearance. It has not been a requirement of the surgeon yet, but I am sure it will come up. Good luck!!
