A typical eating day for me would be like this:

8 a.m.: 1 egg with some diced veggie in it, scrambled with a small glass skim milk

10 a.m.: 10 almonds

Noon: Vegetable Soup

2 pm: Small can of tuna fish with spicy brown mustard

4 pm: 1 Protein shake. Or, perhaps some hummus on pita chips

6 pm: Green salad with steak or chicken in it. Lots of greens, not so much dressing.

8 pm: Glass of skim milk and a small piece of chocolate

Sample exercise routine:

Monday: Rollerblading at lunch; Arm + back weights after work at the gym

Tuesday: Cardio day (jogging, cycling, P90X, etc)

Wednesday: Walking or rollerblading at lunch; Legs weights and abs at the gym

Thursday: Cardio day

Friday: Day off

Saturday: Fun exercise day. Canoeing, hiking, skiing, swimming, volleyball with friends, etc.

Sunday: Yard work or other strenuous housework (enough to get you sweating)

I was banded in 2008 and I'm 40pounds lighter with 25 to go. I still have soooo much trouble with staying on track, I read your sucess with weight loss in such a short time and it motivates me..thank you. I really need to get out of my rut already. its good that you start your day off with a Fluid and your supplements...I think that sets the tone for the rest of your day... keep up the good work and thanks for sharing

Olga

My exercise routine won't help you much, but you may want to see what I eat in a day...

when I get up- 2 cups of hot chai with splenda, take my vitamins/fiber/calcium

breakfast- 1 container of Greek yogurt (6. oz) with 1/4 cup of Kashi GoLean mixed in (high Protein, high fiber)

lunch- 3 oz. can of chicken mixed with 1 tbsp. low-fat mayo, and celery salt, on a low carb, high Protein wrap/tortilla, usually with either a cheese stick or a serving of almonds on the side

"snack"- I drink more chai if I feel hungry or like I just want to put something in my mouth. If that doesn't help, a cheese stick does.

dinner- tonight I had 4 ounces of bbq brisket with sauce, maybe 1/2 cup coleslaw, and a bite of my husband's cornbread. If I'm cooking at home it'll be 4 ounces of whatever meat I cook for the family, and a side of veggies or salad.

dessert- I have Skinny Cow ice cream bars in my freezer that I tell myself I can have every night. Oddly enough, the fact that I can have them seems to keep me from eating them. I've only had 2 or 3 from the box in the past month.

I hope that helps...

I can't tolerate dairy in the mornings, so usually start with two weetbix and boiling Water for Breakfast. lunch is tuna and salad, or tuna and risotto, max one cup total. Sometmes a banana and Greek style yoghurt. I often have a no fat cappucino during the afternoon. dinner is white meat (chicken, fish, turkey) plus vegetables, again, max one cup total. If I get the evening nibbles, I find that four or five prunes takes care of that!

Exercise - 30 minutes made up of exercise bike and elliptical trainer, or a 40-60 minute real bike ride (it's winter here in Australia so a bit difficult to get outside except on weekends.) Plus I go rock and roll dancing at least twice a week which would total 60 -90 minutes of energetic dancing each time. I allow myself at least one day off from exercising per week.

Weight loss- 60 lb since being banded on 13 April this year.

Good luck for reaching your goal for your wedding. I am working towards a goal for my son's wedding in April next year.

Hi Alexandra V, I'm not banded yet -my date is Aug 18th-I'm so excited to get started. I was just wondering if you had discussed this with your surgeon or your support group-if you go to those. Also ,might sound like a silly question, but have you had any fills? I've read that on rare occasions there might be a slow leak in the port line and you lose any/all restriction. So you don't feel any of the benefits of having the band, just because you really don't have restriction. Just a thought. Good luck to you and hope you finally get to your goal before your wedding.

Thanks to the others here for the advice and suggestions about the meals. My mind couldn't understand how you could eat enuf calories to stay healthy when I look at the size of the stomach pouch. Makes more sense when I picture about a cup of food. Do you all chew, chew, chew??? Thanks again. HW

Hi Everyone,

I haven't been on this site in a while maily because I haven't been doing that great with my lap band. I know this band is a gift from God and I need to embrace it. I am crying while writing this because I really need support.

I see that everyone has been losing so much weight and I need some help knowing how.

Could you please share what you eat for Breakfast, lunch, and dinner and how much?

Along with your excercise routine?

I have had my lap band for a year and have lost 40lbs.. mainly because I'm not eating right. I want to get my life back on track.

I am getting married in 4 months and would like to lose 25-30lbs before the wedding.

Can you guys please help me out with how much weight on average you lose a month?

I really want to become a success story like you all, and I want the Lap Band forum to become my life.

I weigh 215 right now

My goal weight is 130.

Please help!

also if you have a smart phone you can download apps that can help you monitor what you eat and how many more calories you need to lose weight every week

Hi there

I was banded in April. I have lost 47 pounds since then. I have only had 1 fill and the doctor doesn't want to do a fill again because I have been successful. For Breakfast I eat 5 oz. Greek yogurt (it has fruit in it. 140 calories). For lunch I usually have a salad and a Protein like a 200 calorie turkey burger. For dinner I eat a Protein and at least a cup of vegetables (usually zucchini and mushrooms sauteed in 2 t. olive oil). In between I have Gold Standard vanilla Protein powder (130 caloeies) mixed with iced coffee and then a Premier chocolate Protein shake (which is 160 calories that I get at Costco) as a snack at around 9:30. I drink lots of ice tea, Water, or coffee during the day so I don't get too hungry. Hope that helps.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
