take my prescription pain meds during my two week preop liquid diet and postop? I HAVE to have it or I cannot function due to the arthritis pain. Or, will I have to get the rheumatologist to give me a RX for liquid pain meds? What about other meds that I take daily? Just curious. Need to start planning now! I am hoping to be able to get off all meds after I lose the weight!

ShavieLou, you were probably reply to one of the others who have posted on this thread, but I am not allowed to take any NSAID/painreliever but Tylenol occasionally with the Methotrexate except also for the Darvocet.

i put all the pills i take in a baggie and took them to me the day of pre op and they told me which ones to crush and metformin that i took i got a prescription for liquid.

oh yeah.. I WAS percribed liquid viccodan.. a big arse bottle.. lol

But it was too thick to work at all in the mornings and it was too nasty tasting to take other times... so I only used it when I went camping to stay warm in the middle of the nightif I was desperate (and able to get up off the air mattress in the morning)

It actually went all crusty and nasty before it was half gone..

Plus there are these tiny little pills you can take instead of metformin.. I CANT recal the name, my doctor gave them to me for one month and then refused to again cuz of some side effects (he said, not me) that they had that metformin didnt.. oh well

Yes metformin does come in liquid, it might even be generic but it does;

many of us are on it as we can't take those big pills anymore

That is good to know. I usually don't have problems taking pills but sometimes the chalky big ones give me a little problem!

Dr. Jay will not let you take a pill bigger than your pink nail, metformin is much bigger than that; we take flintstone chewables, gas x chewables;

Where is Dr. Jay located? Seems like I saw him on Obesity Help site while looking for a surgeon.

I need to ask my doctor about the liquid then,.. he never said it had a liquid form...
