I will be banded June 20. We're both June banders!!!

Hey Kitty! You and I are going to be banded on the same day!!!! What is your pre-op diet like, if you are on one? I'm on 1,000 calories / day which have to consist of 3 "meal replacements" (ie: Protein Shakes or Protein bar) and one "real meal" of lean protein and vegetables. I'm getting pretty sick of it! BUT I'm sticking to it. How are you doing? I'm getting nervous!

Today is the day! I'm nervous excited, anxious, apprehensive all in one. I'm just wondering if I'm making the right decision on being banded. I know that it's probably best for me but just nervous about it. I know if a guy that I work with that weighed about 300-350 can be banded and do the whole life afterwards and now weighs about 190-220, I can do it too.

Wish me luck and I will keep everyone updated on my progress. Good luck to all the other June banders! :D

Hi Jessrosec3 and aroundthetown,

YAY for June 20th!!! The start of our new lives!! Now there are at least 5 of us with the same date; we can be our own little group!!! Too bad we're not all in the same area of town!!!

I've done ok on my pre-op diet....didn't do so great the first 2 days but have gotten better at it each day! I'm allowed 2-3 Protein Shakes per day plus 1-2 small low fat, no carb meals...that's been the hardest!!!! But I am doing ok, just HUNGRY all the time!! The Protein Drinks only keep my hunger away about 2 hours....I might try doubling up the powder and see if that helps. I am snacking during the day on either fresh fruit or lowfat cheese (mini babybell and laughing cow light). I don't eat green veggies, so that has been a hard thing for me to give up what veggies I do eat (corn and potatoes!!) Went out to eat last night and ate my salad and steak and did so good not eating any of hubby's stuffed baked potato, which looked so delicious!!!

One more week!!!! Going to meet a nutritionist (not affiliated with my doctor) on Thursday and then getting fitted for my stupid CPAP machine that I have to take to surgery.......

Looking forward to next Monday....can it hurry up and get here already?!?!?!?

Good luck to y'all as well!!!

I am also getting banded June 20th!!! I cant wait! No pre op diet for me so i got lucky but im gonna do meal replacements a few days before surgery hoping it will make the transition a little easier. Lets stay in touch!

im day three post op, and i must be honest because i feel like i wasnt warned. im in a lot of pain, but i think a lot of it has to do with i had a hiatal hernia that he said was the largest in a while that he has seen. getting out of a chair or getting in a chair is like torture. the day after was the worst. i couldnt even get out of bed on my own my mom had to pull me out. but on the bright side, its in and it will get better everyday. i just thought you all should know because at first it kind of sccared me because i had read everyones posts saying how they didnt even need to take there medicine and felt wonderful so i thought something might be wrong with me. now all i can think about is week 3 when i can have soft foods, chicken broth is on my nerves!!

Some people have a lot of pain after surgery. i hear of alot of pain in the shoulders from gas. i was lucky in that area i've had a little shoulder pain when i take deep breaths but nothing to cry over. I had my surgery June 9th and am feeling good but have no energy and i can't stand the Protein Shake mix i got.

I also had a hernia the dr. fixed that i didn't know i had.

Just keep your head up and know that it gets better.

I have my first post-op appointment tomorrow with my surgeon. I think I'm getting my staples out, and getting my diet advanced to Mushies (woohoo!). Then I drive home to Oregon with my sister in tow, to spend the weekend performing with my band and seeing my best friend get married! I'm so excited :)

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
