Surgery Yesterday and feeling crummy :0/

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone - I had surgery yesterday and the port pain is killing me. Yesterday was horrible and today is a little better, but not much . Also yesterday my chest got very tight all of sudden and I freaked out! Thought I was having a stroke or something :0( I called the surgeon ad he told me it was just gas - thank God- and that if my breathing was fine I should be ok . Very scary !

Can you experienced bandsters give me some advice as to what wil ease the pain sooner than later?!

chewable Gas-X should give you a little bit of relief, but the best thing you can do is WALK WALK WALK!

Be sure to get the chewable, not the strips bc the chewable have more simethicone which will give you more relief.

Yes, walk as much as you can, and I also found a heating pad to be very soothing on my aching back and shoulder and even on my incisions (with layers in between of course). I used the heating pad every time I sat on the couch for a good two weeks, mostly over my big incision/port area. The heat seemed to dull the pain.

I just had my surgery yesterday too. Yeah my chest and shoulders were hurting so bad, but I walked around and went up the stairs to use the potty instead of the downstairs bathroom and that seemed to help alot. I am really quite sore now though but from what I hear it doesn't last to long... Good luck with your journey!

I got banded friday and let me tell you I know what you mean about port pain and the gas. The gas to me was far worse then the port pain. I didn't take any pain medicine for the port pain I just stuck to tylenol and that eased it alot. The gas. I walk and walk and walk. I am up to almost a mile of walking and the gas is getting better. The chest gas is the worse. I can tell you the more you walk the more you will feel better. Good Luck. I am just starting this also.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
