i go to see a per diem dr because i'm out sick and need an off work order. i ask about the lap band. she says "oh you don't need to see your dr just email and ask for a referral"

i do that and they send me a response that says "a referral for bariatic surgery has been sent"

what does that mean? what do i do know? am i supposed to get something in the mail or what? i have no idea what to do because OBVIOUSLY i've never had the this procedure before.

can anyone help? how do i get started?

Only thing you can do is call and ask. The doctors office will have something. Other than that I am not sure. Good luck!

Have you been to the orientation with the surgeon yet? The first step at Kaiser is to watch a power point presentation with a lecture and ask your doctor for a referral.
