I just had surgery on Friday. I am at the "what was I thinking?" stage right now. Instead of being able to go home yesterday, I am still stuck in the hospital because I am unable to keep fluids down. During my barium test, it showed that the barium did go through...about two drops worth in 10 minutes. Everything has just been sitting in my esophagus. I have been taking in just a few drops at a time and am okay until I do it a few times and it seems to build up in my esophagus and then the horrible chest pain comes and I start sliming and it eventually all comes up. Has anyone else had to deal with this? I cannot even imagine food at this point if I cannot even take in a few drops of water! They have me "under observation" to see if I will be able to keep any clear fluids down...they seem to think my esophagus is still swollen from the surgery. Please tell me it will get better than this! Worst case scenario I was already told was they would remove the band altogether, and at this point, I do not think I would mind it!
