Anyone tried P90X or Insanity workout?

Recommended Posts

I saw this info commercial last night about the Insanity workout, and I have seen the P90X one many times. I have always thought there is no way I could do that. I was just curious if anyone here as tried either one and how were they?

I am thinking about trying the Insanity workout, but I'm not so sure just yet.

I have done p90x. It is a good workout. It is tough. It is also a committment -- if you follow as written by Tony it requires 6 days a week (i did the lean option) and the workouts are 1 to 1.5 hours each. I hated the yoga. The time was an issue for me. I am not banded and i dont work out consistently so the 6 day per week was tough for me. All in all it is a good workout that i would do again.

I responded to you on OH, so I'll just copy and paste :P One thing to add though. Before buying them, look on eBay and Craigslist. They usually sell pretty cheap!

I live by the Beachbody programs! I have never done Insanity, but I do have the DVDs; maybe I'll do them one day, lol.

I have done P90X, I'm on week 8 now, and loving it. Unless you're looking to add some muscle tone, I'd stick to Insanity, though before doing either one of them I would do a less-high intensity program. I started off with P90, did P90M, and now P90X.

A lot of people say that these programs are for "super fit people" when really, they aren't. There's a girl on YouTube that lost a good 100lbs+ doing P90X (I believe her name is CoutureSlimdown), and she started off by only doing half of the video for each day. It's all about building up your strength and endurance and by the end of the 90 days, you'll see a difference physically and mentally.

I say go for it but maybe start a bit lighater. Check out P90M and TurboJam before jumping into X and Insanity.

Oh cool. I was hoping there was someone I knew over at OH. Thanks for both replies. I may just stick to Tae Bo or running or something.

Mix it up :) People think I'm crazy but add some weights in. Weight-lifting increases your metabolism much faster than cardio does. It doesn't have to be anything heavy though.

I guess it is okay to do both programs being banded and all? I didn't know since we couldn't eat as much.

And I will be doing weights for sure. I want to look toned for once in my life :). I have a Bowflex that I might use as well.

Check out ChaLean Extreme (also by the BeachBody line)

It's amazing!

It's a 90 day committment - 5-6 days/week

Chalene is awesome and I never get tired of her.

She has found that muscle truly burns fat --- and of course it does

I did the program over the summer - I don't lose weight fast so you can't go by me but I saw big time changes in my body b/c of her program.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
