Couch to 5k

I was wondering if anyone has ever tried the from couch to 5K regimen? There's a few different ones out there, but the one I found is supposed to have you ready in 9 weeks. It seems doable. I just have a problem with consistency! I am also pretty overweight so I feel self-conscious when running/jogging.

Should I lose more weight before I even consider it or just give it a go?

Just remember - take it at your pace. If you find week 1 amazingly difficult, then repeat it! Do it as many times as you need to until you're ready for week 2

hey Feeling Groovy, I'm right there with you on the flat painful feet. I have plantar fasciitis. It was bad in my left foot last year and I went and had some cortizone shots in it. It helped for a couple of weeks. I got some insoles for my shoes (Walkfit) they help a lot. Also wearing Birkenstocks help too because of the arch support. It's a lot better in my left foot but now my right foot is killing me. The doc gave me stretching exercises and it helps some. I just know if I lose this weight they will feel a lot better. I hope your pain gets better.

Thanks Rainy! I also have Plantar Fascitis. Went to the Dr about 2 months ago and he fit me for inserts which I wear everyday. I am still in a ton of pain and sometimes it hurts so bad I can't walk. Not sure if I mentioned but I am going back next week. I'll ask about cortizone as I have had it before for elbow pain and it totally did the trick.

I should look into getting a new pair of Berks. Haven't worn those since my Grateful Dead hippy days...great times/memories!!! :D :D

I also get terrible shin splints also so bad that sometimes I can't walk. I agree that this all has to be weight related...I guess its always best to listen to your body and not wait years before doing something.

UUUGGGHHH!!!
