Surgi-strips on the incisions

Recommended Posts

im about 1 week post-op and was just wondering about how long it takes for these little surgi-strips on my incisions to fall off ?? i dont want to peel them off, but im a little anxious to see how my skin is healing underneath it. previous experiences appreciated!!

Mine took about 3 weeks to get all shrivelled up and more than 3/4 of the way off.

I was very curious to see the healing as well. Be sure to watch for signs of infection, but it is important to leave them on until they are almost falling off (I did help one or two along the last wee bit). Having them on will protect them from infection.

I am a firm believer in Vitamin E Oil helping reduce scars when rubbed on the skin (after thoroughly healed) daily. I was banded in late september and have begun this process recently.

The scars are looking better every day. I tried this when my daughter was an infant with a 3rd degree burn from wrist to forearm, did it 2x a day for 12 months, and now at the age of 13 there is no scar at all.

Good luck not picking them off!

My surgeon said to let them fall off. However, I still think a few of them might still be on today...if I hadn't given them the last "tug."

Call your Dr's office and ask them. I called and my Doc said that if they haven't come off after 10 days to gently take them off in the shower if they look ready.

they should fall off on their own in about 2weeks, if they have not gently remove them, by that time they should be lifting a lot so it wont be hard. As long as they are bleeding or puss coming out of them, it would be okay to remove them yourself. I was just like you. I called my doctors office twice because i was so anxious. Also, when you take them off there will be alot of sticky tape around the incisions. soap and Water wont get it off. i used a cotton ball dipped in alittle of alcohol and went around my incisions carefully. it came right off.

I took mine off after 3 days. I feel I did a bad thing. They are red and sore (two weeks post op). Going to the doctor today.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
