I work nights in the hospital and know I'm not goin g to be monitored THAT close but am willing to put up with the crazy old lady I'm sure I will get stuck next to who will keep me up all night tomorrow just to keep the iv meds till some of the expected gas pain is gone and for hydration...but if I had my way I would be in my own bed tomorrow night

Oh, I had my own room - no one to keep me awake but the nurses who kept checking up on me. I liked that I was being monitored and if something came up I was already there...

Just got a call from my doctor's office today; they WILL be keeping me overnight. Works out better for everyone. Won't have to worry about anyone being up on me night #1 (hubby OR dogs)...lol. :)

yup....its standard for EVERYONE at my hospital who's getting lap band to stay overnight...young or old, healthy or not healthy...sleep apnea or no sleep apnea.....but at least its just overnight...I can deal with one night...any more and I get a little crazy lol...the biggest frusteration I have is getting my normal meds that I take at home ON TIME!!! it seems like no matter how good the hospital is I NEVER get my meds on time...and it really throws my body off...so I have learned now to bring them and just slip them down when theyre not looking....and if they see me and say that I'm not supposed to have those...I say "look, I'm really sorry, but if you guys brought them anywhere NEAR on time I wouldnt have to bring them" even after I ask for them...it takes 1+ hours to finally get them....I am so obsessive with my meds at home....I just cant have that...throws my whole body off....other than that...I dont mind the hospital....esp. since the hospital I am going to isnt unionized so you can actually understand the nurses because they are not all foriegn...

Everyone in my clinic has to spend the night. For all the complaining I did I was glad I stayed, I got IV pain meds and IV fluids. My hospical only has private rooms, so I've never had to share a room with someone, thank goodness.

Getting banded this Tuesday 1-11-11 in southeastern PA. Dr. Doesn't usually keep overnight unless medically required. I am 24yo, perfectly healthy, just fat. My surgery is scheduled for 0800 and they are calling for a big snow storm to start early afternoon. What if I can't get home!?

Im getting banded on 1-11-11 also.....in southwestern pa....LOL...thought it was funny. See if there is somewhere u can stay close to the hospital. Or make sure whoever is taking u home has 4wheel drive. I know how it is in the snow. Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
