Not losing weight with food

Recommended Posts

I was banded on Oct 4. I had my first fill in November. I won't be having a fill in December because my insurance won't kick in again until January. I have 4cc in a 10cc band. I haven't lost any weight since 2 weeks after surgery. I was 314 when I started the 2 week pre-op diet. I was 299 the day of surgery. 2 weeks later, I was 284. I follow the diet to a T. I eat lots of Protein, take all my Vitamins, exercise daily. I'm not losing any weight or any inches. Every single day on the scale varies from 282-285. I started the Protein Shakes 3 times a day yesterday and what do you know.. I'm down to 281. This is so frustrating. In order to lose any weight, I'm going to be on protein shakes all the time? This isn't what I signed up for!

I rarely have a Protein drink. But my first thought when you said that is that you either need more Protein in your diet or you need more calories to lose weight.

Do you track your food intake? Do you know how many calories and how many grams of protein you have per day? If you do, then it sounds to me that you've found the right combination of protein and calories that you need to lose and rather than getting that in with Protein drinks, you can eat higher calorie food.< /span>

What are you doing for exercise as well? Doesn't have to all out crazy but it helps if you can at least walk a few miles a day with the eating...I wasn't losing weight either once I introduced actually food but once I started walking 5-7 miles a day it helped me drop it fast. Also a digital food scale is key to make sur eyou are getting the right amounts of food...keep going! :-)

I tried around 800 calories. Then I upped to 1200-1500. My Protein intake is 68-80 grams a day. I'm walking for 30 minutes a day and doing Zumba for an hour as well.

Oct 4th is very new-don't get discouraged. You did this for results and if you keep seeking information as you are doing now-you will find the formula that works for you. Introduce things gradually-for me, exercise and food works. Some can do it with only food. The band is a slow process, which is okay as long as it is going down-you will notice more in the clothes that you wear sometimes instead of the scale. I am down more than 70 lbs and at times it is still not real to me. Good for you!!

Thank you! I'm trying so hard not to get discouraged. I'm just not losing in any way for quite some time now. I'm going back to shakes for awhile to see if my weight loss just needs a shock/jump start.

The Protein is what you need in order to lose the weight. My Dr. said without it your body goes into starvation mode & keeps the weight on. If you keep up the protein I'm sure you'll start to notice the difference. I was banded 11/2 & I'm down 35 lbs without too much exercise. Keep up the good work!

I would suggest switching up your exercise routine because your body gets used to doing the same things. At least that is what my trainer told me.

I don't know why you're not losing weight except to say 1 fill isn't enough. Between fills 1 and 5 I lost maybe 12 pounds. Since fill 5 (my last one) I have lost over 20 pounds. No exercise & eating regular food. I was ticked off that the fills (I self pay so it was $$$$) weren't working but they were just very gradually. Currently I am at 6cc in a 10 cc band. Some people don't really lose weight until 7 or 8 in a 10 cc band whiles others never need to get a fill. If you notice the band hasn't kicked in (as opposed to not working) then you need to push your doctor for fills. My doctor said 6 to 8 weeks b/t but I eventually got in at every 2 weeks. Yes you weighed more than I did at the start but you have lost a good amount of weight for some who just got banded in October.

Good luck.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
