Approved and have my date- YAYY

Recommended Posts

Finally, found out yesterday that my surgery is scheduled for Jan 4th. And Tricare has approved me- Yeah baby.

Now I am starting to worry . I accidently scrolled down to the Life after lap band removal section on this website. And now I am so worried about this procedure going wrong. When I read though some of their experiences it scares me a little bit.

I'm just venting, I have to have faith & believe that everything is going to work out just find and I will be successful.

Congratulations on your banding approval! Do your research and get ready. The date will be here before you know it.

Don't waste your time and energy trying to make sense of the possible issues that may or may not arise after you get banded. Remember that what you read in that forum are the posts of people who have a specific problem, or who have an ax to grind. Some people are alarmist and freak out for no reason, mainly because they haven't done their homework. For every post in that forum, there are THOUSANDS of lap band patients who have no trouble at all, and who don't post anywhere. Not to say some of those posts aren't valid, but you need to take it all into perspective. If you read similar websites about how dangerous driving your car is, you'd never get behind the wheel. Right? :)

Focus on the positive, life-changing opportunity being banded will be for you. Plan ahead, and give yourself the best opportunity for it to be a successful experience in your life. Cross the "trouble" bridge only if and when it comes up.

Good luck!

Dave

"Cross the "trouble" bridge only if and when it comes up"

That's such a great way to think of it Dave.

Thanks so much, I am feeling better already :D

My suggestion is to just look forward and picture yourself living a healthier life! I was one of the posters in the removal section. I had a major slip and had my band removed in May. After having some tests, I found out that I have healed well and am going to have the band replaced next week.I never thought I'd be so excited for surgery but I am. The band was the best gift I've ever given myself (or the best gift from my insurance co) and I bet that in a few months, you will feel the same. Good luck!!!

Hey,

Good luck. Just remember that the lap band is a tool, not a total cure. Use it as such and you'll be successful in so many ways. You are beginning a fabulous journey to discovering yourself and what makes you tick. The best part is you get to lose the weight, get healthy and be even more fabulous that you already are!

I suggest that you keep the perspective of...."My lap band is a tool to help me keep control of my eating & get this weight off until the day comes when I am able to do it on my own." And that day will come. :)

Stay calm, be patient, ask questions, keep in touch with your doc and people on this board. The band doesn't work exactly the same way for everyone so there's no one list of 'how to's' for everyone to follow. You sort of just have to figure it out as you go along.

Don't panic, you'll do great. I'll keep you in my prayers.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
