Band too tight...Cant get unfill till late Dec what should I do?

Recommended Posts

I have a feeling that my band is too tight. I can drink liquids but it is slow going down and i can't really eat solids as they get stuck and hurt.

I spoke with my fill Doctor and he advised I go back to a liquid diet for about 1 week to see if it is just inflammation and he wouldnt be able to do an unfill until the 18th if I turn out to need on...

So what advise do others have out there for me? I'm sure missing food right now but understand the reason to go on a liquid diet for about 1 week and then see what happens...

Yeah the liquid thing is probably the best because you wont get stuck with liquids. :( Sorry I am preband and dont have great advice but hang in there...if it's really bad call your doc again.

No No No!! Don't wait. I posted last week about being too tight and I had to have my doctor come in to his office on a Saturday to unfil me. He said it is dangerous to be too tight and lectured me on waiting the 4 days that I did. I was throwing up nearly everything. No matter what I put into my mouth, it hurt going down. Water was especially hard. I would throw it up with in 30 seconds of drinking. Then on Friday night I was up all night with chest and back pain and regurgitating. I wanted to go to the ER to get unfilled, but I held out and called him at 9:45 Saturday morning. I asked which ER to go to and he told me no, becuase he doesnt trust anyone to mess with the port. An hour later I got slightly unfilled and the pain has gone about 90%. You can't wait that long. Please tell him that this is painful and he needs to see you or if you have to, go to the ER and get some help.

Try warm fluids.. coffee, tea, hot Water with lemon, whatever you like that's low in calorie... Warm stuff tends to loosen the band just a tad. It might be enough to ease it for you.

If you can drink Water, then I'd follow his advice and go back to liquids, possibly purees (no thicker than milkshakes) if you can. If you're having trouble drinking Water, I would call his office immediately and tell him that you're having difficulty getting water down and you need an unfill *NOW*.

If you can get liquids down, then it is not an emergency. I was like that as well after my latest fill. It is tough at first, especially if you are TRYING to eat solids. Instead, just do the liquids (be sure to drink Protein shakes) for at least 3 days (if you can, do the full week like the doc ordered, but it is hard), then try something like mashed potatoes or my favorite malt-o-meal. be sure to eat and drink very slowly. Just try to stick it out until the 18th. I'm sure it will get better for you LONG before then. It did for me!! I was tight like that, but did the liquids and then mushies, and now can eat about 1/4 c of solids. I'm also very steadily losing a little weight everyday :D So let the scale encourage you!! Hopefully it will give you some good numbers for your extra effort :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
